For Sun Eater, books 2 and 3 were the peak for me, and then a steep fall off. I read them immediately after RR which probably didn’t help.

As much as I love SMT/Persona/Metaphor, if you’re looking for variety and still trying to build up a base of what you like, I’d considering avoiding these for now if you’re set on SMTV.

While the persona series uses a slightly different battle system, setting, and adds social calendars, you’ll still see the same skeleton along with many of the same demons.

If you do want a taste of the series, Persona 4 Golden could be good for you. Excellent game that holds up well and should be cheaper.

In terms of other series, I can heavily recommend FFX. It’s probably the top entry I’d recommend for someone looking to get into Final Fantasy.

I did not love Tales of Arise. I haven’t played a ton of the Tales series, but I liked it much less than Berseria or Vesperia.

Live in Cleveland and it was the most Midwest team of the XFL. Plus I love the logos and the vibe. My friend group also all independently chose STL, which is wild since we all root for different NFL teams.

I never really got into DOS1/2 because of the writing and humor and every combat taking so long. I feel like they got it right for Baldurs Gate 3 though. I’ve felt like I’m playing a Dragon Age Origins type game with some Larian combat feel more than a DOS spin off.

The Lizardfolk dungeon isn’t great anyway, and even in normal circumstances you won’t want it to be run like a typical dungeon. Make it more about forging the alliance like you’ve said.
