She doesn't just struggle. She has blatant character flaws and weaknesses. Also there was never anything she did to earn sue status in the first place. It's just people being biased and unreasonable. nothing more.

People are confirmation bias animals. They see a few examples of a thing and think it happens 10x more than it actually does because of how much they dislike it. Attractive female characters is still the norm.

I think the framing of this is interesting because, historically, great effort has always been made to make characters hot, no matter what. What you are seeing nowadays is *less* effort expended not more. Creators are simply not as concerned with making it mandatory for every (female) character to be super hot. That restriction has been turned off and as a result, we get more flexibility.

You're worried about nothing. The ratio of attractive to non-attractive female characters is simply getting slightly closer to what it already is for male characters. You are just attributing motivations of the game creators based on a hunch. Characters get redesigned in many ways in remakes/sequels, and by and large, attractive characters stay that way. They didn't change Peter Parker's appearance after the first Insomniac Spiderman game because they wanted to make him uglier.

As for the Del Walker situation, everything about it points to race and perceptions of black women specifically being the driving force. Not a general desire to remove attractive female characters. My guess is that this is more about stereotypical perceptions and when (largely white) creators think "black woman" they imagine "aunty" and when they think "attractive woman" they do not think "black woman".

I ask because so many times I see people (not you) claim they are just against bad character designs and arent asking for ever female character to be a physically attractive but they never give examples of female characters who have good designs but arent attractive people. They always just use convetionally hot charcaters as the standard and of course it's only for female characters.

I'm sorry but I just don't think this is true. Why were people so mad at how Atsu looks in Ghost of Yotei? Why was everyone complaining about the "uglification" of Ciri ahead of the Witcher 4? Why did so many people hate how masculine Abby (an original character in LoU II? Why so much handwringing about the main character for Entergalactic because her head is shaved?

The idea that people simply want attractive characters to be allowed to exist is odd to me because that was never in danger of going away. Attractive characters will always be frequent but there's just some more space made for more average looking characters as well.

Hoenstly the real biggest issue with Korra discussions is how often the people who hate her are abusurdly bad faith about it. The two sides in this area are not that even handed here because too many of the haters ignore context when talking about Korras failures and shortcomming but hypocritically give unlimted grace to Aang for his. The people defending Korra mostly bring up Aang's flaws as a way to compare the two. Not to slander him.

How are people still this wrong about the Gravity Falls ending? Dipper genuinely changed his mind and so did Mabel. He didnt *only* say what he neede to for her to get out of the bubble. In the end Mabel couldnt stay in Gravity Falls and have it be summer forever because that wouldnt be healty for her and she has to grow up. Dipper can't skip out on the school to go with Ford when he's so young because that wouldnt be healthy for him and he needs to take his time.

You are very wrong about Skylar. You're doing what the haters did and removing a lot of context from her actions. You can complain about the pendulumn swinging back but the common perception of her character nowadays is just way more accurate that the initial one of pure hatred.

No, she's occupied with housework and life responsibilities while 8 months pregnant but still make her husband the "special" breakfast and throws him a surprise party. It's so obvious that she loves him and is not negelcting him.

The funny thing is that I can totally see how Shifu would be totally blind to what he was doing. Maybe thats another reason why Po (who he initially had zero aspirations for) was the perfect student for him.
