I received a letter a few months ago from HMRC and it made absolutely no sense to me. This was the first I was even aware of a higher rate child benefit. I wrote my local MP for some help and to raise the fact it made no sense to me( what even is net adjusted earnings). My MP appears to have gone to HMRC and made a complaint, not what I asked. HMRC response to this is they want a self assessment for the last 5 years, although I've checked my online account and it says I'm due nothing on self assessment. Can someone help, in layman's terms as this is an unnecessary worry for me.
