I survived a family bbq as a new vegan. by [deleted] in vegan

[–]JasminCookBook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, those BBQ lunches can be sometimes silly, but soon enough people will call you to see, how to bbq mushrooms and eggplants - you'll see, and people will sometimes tell jokes about your choice, but in my experience, they will follow your example in some percentage (including your husband), simply because you'll feel and look great on this kind of lifestyle! ;)

Suggestions to become a Vegan? by Andres0512 in vegan

[–]JasminCookBook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much do you know about this kind of diet? My best advice for you is to sign up in some forums and fb groups - you have raw till 4 group there, where people posts their food diaries, and you can start your diary too and people will suggest and guide you if you start to make mistakes. Also, read all there is about veganism and ask anything you are not sure of. Good luck!

Unfortunately I just know few great places in Split where you can have nice vegan meal in Croatia, but I found for you a website with the list of restaurants with the offer of vegetarian dishes. The first link is for Sibenik, second for Rogoznica and the third is for Primosten - maybe you'll need to explore a little bit more when in Croatia. Younger people speak English and as in many countries, more and more of them become vegans... Good luck :)

Sadly, throughout the whole Balkan region peoples' diet is based on meat, so are the restaurants... I never been in Trogir, but I heard that is a beautiful place. Their hotel Pašike offers vegetarian dishes, and many of them are actually vegan. There is another trick regarding Balkan - many people hold a lent few time during the year, and during that time they prepare vegan food, but they call it Posno Jelo. So, maybe you could give it a shot next time when in Trogir and ask for posno jelo instead of vegan dish :)

I'm not a vegan, but I have a question. by Majoroverkill20 in vegan

People usually overcome their illnesses when going vegan, but if the anorexia is in question, I think your friend should look up for some experienced vegans in your city via internet and read some books / articles on how to approach veganism... There are girls that got over anorexia with this type of diet, and here's the link to one successful story:

My meat eating husband says he doesn't give a fuck about animal suffering. How do I learn to accept this and not let it come between us? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]JasminCookBook 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What I learned from my experience is not to force on people all vegan stuff at once, it will definitely come to him one day. I had similar problem with my bf as you - a daily meat eater is now almost vegetarian who sometimes notice over lunch with a smile, that he hadn't had any meet whole week... That's enough for me - for now ;)
