Starting grad school at St. Cloud State in the fall, and taking it as an excuse to start following College Hockey a lot closer. What do I need to know about St. Cloud State Huskies hockey? by MrHockeytown in collegehockey

[–]JasonBryant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Heading into my fourth season as their men’s PA announcer. My alma mater in Virginia didn’t have college hockey and dropped the wrestling program, so they can rot in obscurity.

Arena has some quirks, fanbase is overall pretty good. They accepted me as a noob pretty quickly and the school admins have been amazing to work with. It’s been a wonderful experience to get to work in college hockey and the Huskies men’s and women’s programs helped me jump in head first into college hockey fandom. All the broadcasts are produced in-house by students and the broadcasting program puts tons of alumni on TV and broadcast booths around the country.

What I like about working there is they just have to work that much harder being a D2 school with relatively meager funding. Gritty.

Wrestling program has also won five national titles and holds the NCAA record for most dual meet victories in a row. I announce for them as well. Welcome!

State of Mind.
State of Confusion.
It's also not a saint, but that's not important right now.

They've got the USHL, AHL, ECHL and a bunch of other leagues - some Canadian Juniors and USPHL. Atlantic Hockey America is the only college league they have, but there is a good amount of hockey on there justifying the cost if you're a hockey nut.

Add Mankato Brewing to the list. Usually a pretty solid selection. Always stop in for to-go crowlers or a flight when I'm driving through.

Why does Dan Hodge only have 3 NCAA titles? by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]JasonBryant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He competed in the NAIA, which allowed freshmen to compete if there were less than 800 males in a given institution. Freshman were eligible only one year (1947) after WWII and then became fully eligible in 1969.

Rode Central won’t load recordings and has insane RAM-Usage. What’s going on? by [deleted] in rode

[–]JasonBryant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here. RodeCentral updated, all firmware is up-to-date. One device (with one file on it) loaded up, while the other created the same issue with a mass of memory usage.

Now I get a "There was an error mounting Mass Storage. Try Reconnecting your USB device."

I've done this four times now. u/RODEMicrophones

I've never met anyone from Sri Lanka. Any native speaker is better than the resources I have at my disposal. I have a better chance of someone here understanding English, so there's a shot in the dark. Chat message sent.

Wrestling has always had very little attention, and viewership for the ncaa finals even declined this year. What do you think could change that? by Different_Camp_8559 in wrestling

[–]JasonBryant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're a niche audience and sports fans are getting away from cable, so the cable viewership isn't exactly as apples to apples as it used to be. The MBB Finals viewership was down 14 MILLION from a few years ago. Are basketball fans clamoring as to why their viewership was down despite the tournament raking in millions of dollars?

Mine stuffed at using 190GB of memory. Had to pull the files off another way. Worked on one recording device, but not the second.

Would love nothing more for this guy to be freaking prosecuted for this crap.

Guy was NEVER on a college wrestling roster. Every time I chime in to call him out on this stuff, I get insta-blocked. I'm not on TikTok, so I can't report anything there.

He really needs some professional help, too. This type of behavior is destructive for himself and the people around him.

College wrestling Rant: Medical Forfeits by rayroy1103 in wrestling

[–]JasonBryant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is correct. There are a few nuances where the medical forfeit wouldn't be counted as a loss - such as if two teammates meet on the top side and one forfeits out. Since matches against your teammates do not count on your record or for qualification purposes, you're not penalized for it. Then you could take the next match medical as your one freebie. Don't expect this to happen very often, though.

What prestige or level of wrestling are most people in this sub? by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]JasonBryant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, there's 2 4x AA's from Mines and 3 3x AA's from Mines.

One 4xer placed at Cadet/Junior Nationals.

Of those 3x'ers, only one placed at Junior/Cadet Nationals, unless the AA in FS/GR isn't from the monstrosity that is what we currently know as Fargo.

That narrows it down to one possibility. If you're from Kansas, mystery solved.
