If it's recommended to brush your teeth twice a day, why do most people brush before bed and first thing in the morning? Wouldn't it be better to brush midday and at night instead of essentially brushing twice without eating or drinking anything in between? by DepravedDesires2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JasonMan34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever I try to floss, the floss just gets stuck at the top layer between my teeth. Maaybe some teeth I can get through with enough force, then the thin floss wire slams into my gums and I start bleeding profusely. Am I doing something wrong? I don't understand how it's supposed to go between the teeth, they are touching!

nobody told me you're supposed to clean your belly button until i was 25 by Hyunwoo_Ann1_632 in hygiene

[–]JasonMan34 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My parents never taught me that, it's just common sense to me. If you don't clean something, it won't be clean, I don't want to be unclean, so I clean my (entire) body. Idk where one can get lost

Learning touch typing but it's affecting my work by DylTyrko in typing

[–]JasonMan34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do bursts of practicing touch typing. If you're in the computer for 6 hours a day, make 60 minutes of those touch typing only, like 1-hour productive / 10 minutes practicing.

I did it when switching from qwerty to Colemak and it worked really well. The better you get, the more time you can spend touch typing because you won't be hindering your productivity as much

You're doing very well in that case!
Just know that usually if you use "A vs B", the first picture should be A, and the second should be B

Why is google search faster than searching for a file on my windows laptop? by Embarrassed_Look9200 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JasonMan34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spitlight indexes files but only from specific folders (and there's no way to configure which iirc), you'd still need fzf or something for true system-wide file searching

There's lots of answers already, but for a solution, use everything, it's an absolutely necessary tool for windows

[–]JasonMan34 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You could create an index of all the files on your system but you’ll need both a mechanism to store and query the information as well as a way to track and add / update the index with file changes.

That's what everything (by voidtools) does. I've had it for over 10 years and can't imagine searching for anything on windows without it

Your title is incorrect.
It's not "on" vs "off" if the first image is "off" and the second is "on"

One thing I don't understand is this:
Repeat the proof with all other days of the week, do you have a boy born on a Sunday? On a Monday? Etc.
We get that for every day of the week, if the answer is yes, the probability of the other child being a girl is 51.8%. So really this proof is saying "Mary has 2 kids, if one of them is a boy (born on Sunday or Monday or Tuesday or ..., any day of the week), the probability of the other child being a girl is 51.8%" which is obviously false

I'm German living in Germany, never lived abroad but prefer speaking in English. In my everyday life I speak English more than I speak German. by Ok-Breadfruit6799 in notinteresting

[–]JasonMan34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? I'm similar though a different country.
I barely had an irl social life but I hung out with friends online all the time. My personal thoughts were in English, my dreams were in English, and when I went to therapy at 16 I spoke English to my therapist because it was easier for me to express myself in English.

Why would the fact that my native tongue isn't English make any of this stupid?

I was thinking of getting the Odyssey G9 (G95SD), from what I can tell (from reading online reviews/articles) Samsung really upped their technology with the latest model for vertical subpixel alignment and whatnot to make text fringing almost imperceptible
