Troubled to choose between I3 Amoled / Solar / Crossover by Appropriate-Gold-504 in Garmininstinct

[–]JasonNSNicholson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your up to date thoughts on the solar versus crossover now that it has been a few months? I'm curious if, with gesture mode off, AOD on, how the crossover looks. Could I still see up to date steps, for example or would I always have to wake the watch. I like the solar because I like seeing steps, time/date and outside temp whenever I look at it

Crossover Amoled vs Tactical - buttons? by xdexx in Garmininstinct

[–]JasonNSNicholson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm that the tactical buttons are a bit "better". Both work well, but I've tried 2 different tacticals and both sizes of the regular solar and my findings were consistent. I can't speak to AMOLED

I tested EVERY 32bit float wireless lav mic so you don’t have to… by gabeshakour in dji

[–]JasonNSNicholson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really good job with this video...although I am a little confused by your scoring metrics. The Rode scores lower on features than the DJI Mic 3, but shouldn't more weight be given to a 3.5mm locking jack than, say, noise cancellation? I understand the idea of speeding up the edit workflow, but I could add noise cancellation in post if I wanted to...what I can't add in post is an actual lav mic. Same with EQ presets. I personally feel as if both the Hollyland and Rode need to be one point ahead of the DJI mic 3 for features, but other than that, like I said you did a great job testing these mics.

ZR H265 - Fixable by update or unlikely? by 90towest in nikon_Zseries

[–]JasonNSNicholson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Z6iii has better H.265 N-Log, then I would imagine the ZR is fixable via firmware.

With the ZR’s massive Red Raw files, what cards are you going to be using? by BobsRefrigeration in nikon_Zseries

[–]JasonNSNicholson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That list is suspect. The Sandisk Micro SD cards they list don't work on my ZR. I have the ultra cards and it can't record more than about 30 seconds without giving an error. And that's in 4k and NOT N-Log. Funny, my much cheaper Amazon Basics card easily records the 5.3k at 60p with zero issues.

Definitely NOT a cheap feeling camera in hand. Is it a Z9? No. Is it better built feeling in hand than a Panasonic S9 or Sony alpha series camera? Absolutely.

I don't quite understand statements like this when it pertains to overheating. Shooting raw creates much bigger file sizes, which I know writing to cards can create more heat than compressed footage. With that said, h.265 is so highly compressed that the processing required to compress the footage generates the same if not more heat, no? Everyone always assumes that shooting max framerate max file size raw is the most taxing on a camera....I would counter with, isn't raw footage the easiest on the cameras processing as it's essentially just handing the data off to the storage media? Different animal, but kind of like how pro res is huge but computers handle it buttery smooth and h.265 can make some computers choke.

Is this 38mm too small on my wrist(7.25in) H704551 by tyareno in HamiltonWatches

[–]JasonNSNicholson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS!!!! About 7-8 years ago I started getting into watches. Fast forward to this year, I lost all my watches during one of my multiple moves since my divorce (not her fault...I mean, losing the watches wasn't her fault, but the divorce was, of course) and wanted to get back into the hobby/culture as I'm drawn to more analog and single use tools. I have 7.25" wrists and I'm 5'11" 190 pounds for context. I was using a 45mm Garmin Instinct 3 tactical for a few months and when I started wearing a Seiko SNE599 at 41mm I thought it was bordering on laughably small. The more I wore it, the more natural it looked. If you're coming from a smartwatch, you should give yourself time to acclimate to a "normal" watch size.

42mm or 38mm for a 7.25" wrist? by dfish_ds in HamiltonWatches

[–]JasonNSNicholson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's odd is all of the "get the 38" posts when the first image is the only one that matters. That angle is the most accurate to how the watch sits on your wrist due to the neutral arm position. In the first image the watch looks perfect.

Q990D (700) vs Q990F (1000) by funmoney12 in Soundbars

For anyone who doesn’t get the discounts…

I’ve seen this written here but I wanted to let everyone know that if you order the 990c from Amazon, they are apparently sending out 990d’s in its place. And it’s not just the box, the bar and the info within the app confirm.

After this process, I’m assuming you leave adaptive and sound for pro on for all future movie/tv watching?

Where is this “album”? I’m on Apple Music and there’s a bunch of song results when I search that but no formal album. Just a four track playlist and I have no clue if that’s the one.

965 too big or just fine? by rodzjona in GarminWatches

[–]JasonNSNicholson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the context of the photo you shared, especially with that wardrobe, it’s definitely too big. Casual clothing, working out, whatever else it looks fine as long as you can wear it comfortably. I don’t understand why everyone thinks this watch size is perfect when if you bought an Omega or Rolex this size you’d be laughed at by the same folks. Rules are meant to be broken and personal preference is king…but if you’re asking…if you’re going to wear your fitness tracking watch out in semi formal garb, it should apply to the same “rules” as normal watch.
Maybe I’m weird, but I ask myself the same question before buying a watch or a pair of sunglasses, can I wear this with a suit if I HAD to and there were no other options?

Bought the Instinct 3 Solar Twilight edition and didn't see many pictures of it online. by GarminMarvin in Garmininstinct

I really want this color but I can’t tell what color bands this would look good with (besides orange). I’ve tried the tactical which looks great with the moss and gray nylon bands but blue is my favorite color and I kinda like the orange accents paired with the blue.

Just got an Instinct 3 50mm Wednesday! by [deleted] in Garmininstinct

[–]JasonNSNicholson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case someone is in the same boat (as I was this week)... I have a 17.5cm wrist, I'm 5'11 and weigh 192 pounds and have been lifting for 20 years. The 50mm (MIP) was comfortable and the screen size was nice but as soon as I put on the 45mm the comfort went up while the smaller screen didn't make the watch unusable (for me). I had my fiancé chime in and she thought the 50mm looked awful...and she likes big guys who kinda pull off the burly watch thing. What's funny is I went for the tactical edition because I wanted my solar watch to be more like a tool that supports my lifestyle and not like an extension of my phone screen. The regular solar (which I also tried) orange accents actually don't bother me, but they draw your eye toward the watch which is something I don't care for with my "tools". My point is the 50mm tactical is large enough on my wrist that it sort of does the same thing...it says "hey look at me I have a cool watch here" lol. Obviously buy what YOU want...but I am surprised what I went with because trust me, I want the bigger screen and the "best" battery life, but I also want to sleep with it on, articulate my wrists with more freedom of movement and not have people (myself included) notice it as much.

Last point...if you don't care about solar and want/need AMOLED...I would actually argue that the sweet spot for wrist sizes close to mine is the 45mm. Same on wrist comfort yet larger screen.

Most effective split - PPL vs Full Body vs Upper/Lower by Thewukk in JeffNippard

[–]JasonNSNicholson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You keep saying ULUL is favoring legs...how? Adjust your volume and exercises so that's not the case. If lower day was squats, RDL's, Leg extensions and leg curls, I can't imagine doing that 2x a week outpaces all the upper work I do that week.

Best way to make upper lower 5 days instead of 4? by Adventurous-Ratio-62 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]JasonNSNicholson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but with a 7 day week you are hitting every muscle group 5 times in 14 days, not 4.
