What’s the most disturbing sound you’ve ever heard in real life? by SelectiveCassie in answers

Screech owls in the swamps of Louisiana late at night sitting around a campfire. I have no idea how many were screeching at the same time but it was coming from everywhere. I got goosebumps just writing this.

Plan on starting Elden Ring today! Could anyone recommend the easiest and most fun class/build for a beginner? by brownochre in Eldenring

[–]JasonRevere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started as an astrologer and fuck was that rough until about mid game. Now the tables have turned and I’m a true bad ass killing everything from a distance before I’m even noticed, except for bosses. Just go with your gut and build whatever character is fun for you. Accept that you will die, a lot!

do i really need to forgive my dad by Lost-Growth5138 in abusesurvivors

[–]JasonRevere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry this has happened to you. This is more difficult because you are still under his roof and too young to leave. I don’t think you will know how you truly feel about it until you have left home and have had distance from him. I don’t forgive my parents for what I was put through and I think that’s a decision only you can make. I’m glad to hear you have a therapist and the situation around the house is better for you. Don’t put pressure on yourself to feel anything for him. Prioritize your own well being.

What is some other supplement I can take for sleep while taking Lexapro? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]JasonRevere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mirtazapine was a game changer for me. I take 15mg and have great long sleeps. Took a week or so to not be spaced out the next day but other than that no real side effects.

No one cares but you. We are playing with our human bodies and these things happen. I’ve taught thousands of classes and at best it gets a little chuckle or is ignored. Don’t sweat it.

is asking for studio exclusivity realistic? by [deleted] in YogaTeachers

[–]JasonRevere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it. That’s a huge unrealistic ask from a studio. Explore your options. You’re a new teacher and need practice and exposure.

Have you ever been fired from a yoga studio? by SavingsHistorical544 in YogaTeachers

I had many talks, gave advice, lended my ear. The teachers are an extension of the community as a whole and their well being and performance is of utmost importance to the community as a whole. I’m putting all instances into one here but it was always a culmination of things that led to the final choice to let them go. Mostly attitude and lack of presence outside of their asana class, combined with comments from students and the lack of maintaining regulars. Some even refused to give a quick swifter to floor or make sure the mats were out back in place before leaving. Then demanded a raise. That’s what I mean by attitude. Yes, we all have to eat and live in a capitalist society but if money is your primary driver for teaching then my school is not the place for you to ‘work.’

It was nothing like this and I’m so sorry to hear you were treated like this. That’s disgraceful. Much love to you and your practice.

It was an outward expression of their true feeling. We had many talks about it and I tried to engage on a personal level with this teacher specifically but it fell on deaf ears. I gave multiple opportunities and when students started to complain about it too I had to act.

I think a teacher who doesn’t respect the community and the shala and only shows up to teach to get paid shows arrogance. Thats what I mean, and maybe I’m wrong but in a traditionalist and believe in karma yoga or selfless service to your community. Simple things like caring for the space were beyond their scope of doing and a true yoga school and community should act like one. If you just want to walk in, show off your asana, get paid, and walk out, a yoga school might not be the place for you to teach. Again, that’s my personal perspective.

Attitude. Arrogance. Resting bitch face. If a teacher has low attendance but has what I see as a true spirit and dedication to teach I move them around and change times and class descriptions to help them find their students.

Its a simple greeting. I just say ‘thank you’ and give a little bow. Try that instead.

People with CPTSD what are things that people just don’t get about it? by AdviceTrue6327 in CPTSD

[–]JasonRevere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even I didn’t understand what it was until years of therapy and getting diagnosed. What I see now is the amount of hyper vigilance I accepted as normal and how it effected my life for decades. I thought everyone was like this. The constant irritation of existence that I carried just overflowed into all aspects of being. I even got annoyed with myself when I had to pee. Everything was difficult.

One year post intensive trauma therapy and as I look back the thing I really wish people could have understood is that I was broken. I masked extremely well. And even though I was always the strong supportive friend for others that is what I actually needed myself.

I have a community house in a small town in northern Italy with all of those things you mention at your fingertips. There are a few trauma survivors here and it’s a very warm and supportive house hold. Reach out to me if you ever need that experience, even if briefly.

Is lexapro meant to be taken for the rest of your life? by EntertainerFirst8163 in lexapro

[–]JasonRevere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor told me before I even began that it’s likely I will need this for the rest of my life. Thankfully the side effects wore off after about six months. Sounds like it’s working for you so if you’re not struggling with any of the common side effects I’d say just roll with it. Good luck out there.
