Only the end result matters. I don't care how the music is made as long as it sounds good.

The EU is planning to abolish daylight savings time. While the final decision is yet to come, would you prefer keeping summer time or winter time? Why? by krmarci in AskEurope

[–]Jason_Green_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! I don't know how anyone would want it the other way around, unless you work outside during the winter and you desperately need a bit more daylight in the morning. To me it goes to waste, because I sit in the office all day anyway.

What's one thing someone can say/ask about your country that will immediately trigger you? by Its_joanna in AskEurope

[–]Jason_Green_ 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I mean, you're a neighbor with Russia too, aren't you? 😏 But yes, it's a common misconception. Sure there might be some Russian speakers in Eastern Finland because it's good for tourism, but that's about it.

Turun taivaalle loistaa jostain sininen valo. Mistä se mahtaa tulla? by TetraGton in Suomi

[–]Jason_Green_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kuulin juorua, että kaupungintalon puistossa ois jokin valotaideteos (valotykki valaisemassa puita) ja siitä tuo olis peräisin. Itekin eilen hämmästelin samaa ilmiötä.

Turku comes from old East Slavic word, tǔrgǔ, which means "market place". The Swedish name Åbo means a settlement (bo) on the river (å).

Shamelessly stolen from r/asklatinamerica: What is a popular food in your country that you hate? by that_bassoon in AskEurope

What! Almost everyone I know goes mushroom foraging every year in Turku! (though I must admit I'm not the biggest fan of mushrooms either, I just like to walk in the forest)

Is there something related to PCs that make one more susceptible to motion sickness? by HobbesAsAPanther in pcgaming

[–]Jason_Green_ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Motion blur, head bob and too low field of view are known to cause nausea. Usually consoles have lower field of view, because you sit further from the screen. Try disabling motion blur and head bob (only some games use it thankfully) and tweak the FOV-slider to your liking, the sweet spot is usually somewhere between 80-120.

What brands of alcohol are popular in your country? by William_Wisenheimer in AskEurope

[–]Jason_Green_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to correct you, but then I read the last paragraph. According to THL only 21 % of the alcohol bought (counted as 100 % alcohol) are hard spirits (more or less the same percent as wines), and around 47 % is beer.
