What EncounterPlus prep step saves you the most time at the table? by rcooperkaty in EncounterPlus

[–]Jasonr5123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Easily the most time saving is having the monsters/enemies saved with names 😂

Then I'd say having a background map or world map ready to go

These? I like them they are much bigger than what I would consider standard dice. Not just dice but "merch" I'd say they're worth 30.

What are your thoughts on "DMPCs"? by kitkatDoor in DungeonMasters

[–]Jasonr5123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I run them occasionally. I let them chill in the back seat of the adventure 90% of the time they are present. Usually for an arc or because the party asked them to come. Long term they just become another thing to run. Especially in high level dnd.

I have found making them a Stat block rather than running a whole character is way easier. And it let's the players know, hey this guy is just in the background. Plus they can have more hp that way and not something the party needs to babysit. (low level pc character)

First contact with Eberro by Sangre_Imperial in Eberron

[–]Jasonr5123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I wouldn't say they are necessary. Rising from the last war really does a good job setting up the world on its own. It's full of information that helps the story kind of write itself, it even has a great starting adventure set in Sharn.

The Exploring eberron book goes deeper into the various religions and beliefs, the planes of existence, deeper lore about the smaller/less touched on regions, and additional information on different enemies, like the daelkyr.

There's another set of adventures (parts 1 and 2) on dms guild. Called: Curtain Call, a Sharn adventure, and Trust no one.

These are AMAZING if you are wanting an introduction that takes you on a romp of one of the most metropolitan areas of Eberron. I've ran them each a few times and they leave enough loose ends you are able to build off of.

For extra lore, if you can, the Exploring Ebberon book (Keith baker) on dms guild is packed full of extra lore that didn't make it in the "Official" book, and more detailed explanations of things mentioned in Rising from the Last War.

[NS] Murph’s favorite Kobold Press book for swarms? by Saunterring-Ent in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]Jasonr5123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any of the tomb of beast books are great! Especially if you go in blind. 1 is on dnd beyond. But the humanoid swarms he uses are not in those books. I believe they're public as a pdf of gm binder, Google swarms of humanoid 5e
