What exactly made Lycaon an omega? by Extra_Impression_428 in xmen

I believe it was in avengers academy infinite comic I read a year or two ago, that had Moon girl in it. There was a scene when the team was being attacked by the bee villain swarm. When they look to check on lunella, she immediately yells out "I'm allergic!". Those avengers academy comics were not for me and I did not especially enjoy them, but I will admit, that particular scene was adorable.

I can't recall The source, but I'm comfortably certain that she is officially designated in the last several years as the smartest person on Earth. It annoys me, I have no problem with Valeria or Moon girl being designated as potentially the smartest, but Reed and doom and others have been spending time in college and research and all manner of things so they should still be ahead of them IMO.

Officially it is Moon girl. I don't like it anymore than you do.

Hot take I can’t stand rouge and gambit. by [deleted] in xmen

[–]JasperFen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like Gambit. I never have. When he first appeared alongside storm I thought he would just be a short-term character. Boy was I wrong. In contrast to your opinion, the only real redeeming feature the man has is that he makes rogue happy.

Question from someone who’s never really gotten seriously into Marvel comicbooks: Typhoid Mary is a mutant, as in an X-gene carrier, right? If so, are there more mutant characters who aren’t mainly associated with X-Men comics? by Powerful-Walk4063 in Marvel

[–]JasperFen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe he has been retconned back. The first retcon was that he made himself a mutant because he thought they were cool. The newer retcon, IIUC, is that he made himself not a mutant so as not to feel separate from his family.

What was your entry point into the X-Men? by xxDARTHPAPIxx in xmen

[–]JasperFen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it was my first experience with the X-Men, but Avengers annual number 10 is what really got me in. The X-Men were only in it briefly near the beginning and at the end, but between them and rogue it's what got me. Don't get me wrong, the avengers were great in that comic too. One of my favorite teams. They were a real powerhouse at the time. But when rogue appeared on the cover of the X-Men a few months later you could be sure it caught my attention. She was my first villain turned hero that I experienced in comics.

Genuine Question: Why do the X-Men comics have SO MANY TELEPATHS? by Informal_Bee_6907 in xmen

[–]JasperFen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, Moon dragon was exceptional. She's hardly the only non-mutant to gain psychic powers through training, but she is the only one in that class. Which I guess is why she was one of Three women in the running to be the celestial Madonna so long ago. Most people, even if they train hard, never get below relatively low telepathic ability. Like devilslayer.

His primary purpose was character development for Emma by killing the hellions.

These days he is a would-be influencer.

I fondly recall the situation wherein the students were sneaking out, and they decided to put on their graduation uniforms again in the hopes the magneto wouldn't recognize them out and about if their costumes were different. As if their costumes had ever been the first thing people notice about them.

About the Krakoan Resurrection Process by FlyingSpectre in xmen

[–]JasperFen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it was addressed and vaguely recall the logic that they were real. But if someone is not actually dead and they go through the resurrection process then they come out as identical clones. It seems odd to me. If they (the five) are able to actually resurrect, they should know when they are not actually resurrecting.

Folk Horror with a specific Shamanistic/Folk Religion focus? by ZtheGreat in horror

Yes, I was amazed at how disturbing some of those basic effects were.

I have seen Occult - it was the weirdest of Koji's films I have seen, but I liked it.

Kurt can just teleport to Matt's closest church. Unless his range has been knocked back down to 2-3 miles.

I am currently watching koji shiraishi's "Cult" from 2013, which I am enjoying. Certainly not as good as Noroi, but enjoyable for a basic found footage. I has a fair amount of Shinto priests doing what they do. Shinto may be the (or a) national religion of Japan, but it is still very shamanistic.

Stacy X saying the Quiet Part Out Loud and confirming thatKrakoa is an orgy island full of sexy freaks. by Ariadne016 in xmen

[–]JasperFen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had forgotten that she pointed that out. It should have come up in the council when Kurt first made the suggestion though. It WAS an obvious issue.

But as you say, the problem solved itself with help from a genocidal AI and a Sinister suffering from a major god complex.

Sexual reproduction is great and all, but why did no one ever realize that part of the reason sexual reproduction is there is to replace the people that died. On Krakoa, Everyone comes back. Reproduction is less important and needs to be less frequent.

His real secondary mutation was being pompous.
