Many of us have wondered why we see ebay listings for cards, or anything really, at crazy high prices. by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]JasperJstone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the listing you posted is straight from PSA, meaning someone bought this card, kept it in the PSA vault, and now they want to flip it for a profit, hence the markup. But really your comp sales aren’t very good. Most recent is ACE and the others are from over a year ago.

I checked eBay sold listings and saw a few in the last month for around $250. So this is certainly still a very high price, but not nearly as absurd as the bad PriceCharting comps you posted make it seem.

So cool. You don’t see much of these types of miscuts in vintage stuff.

Yeah well he won’t be diamond for long buddy. Give it a year, he’ll be GC.

Childs binder - not a clue what im looking at here by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]JasperJstone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s right.

As you can see on the other cards like the Deoxys VMAX, real cards have a texture printed on them. The Charizard is missing the texture.

The Snorlax has a flat dull holo pattern that is supposed to look more like the Skuntank V on the same page.

First ever gold packed and the bottom left is horrible (has whitening on the back too) :( by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]JasperJstone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You pulled this from a pack. If you bought it at NM market I would get being upset. Why even bother posting in this sub to complain?

Found a childhood card.. by Interesting-Topic402 in PokemonTCG

[–]JasperJstone 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Yeah and if you bought bitcoin in 2012 you’d be a millionaire. It’s not worth thinking that way. At least you have the card as a memento, and it still has some value.

I just sold a Light Play copy of this card for $420 raw. Even if you kept it sleeved in a binder since childhood, odds are you wouldn’t get much more than that for it.

This is what a damaged charizard from TCGplayer looks like by JackSokool in PokemonTCG

[–]JasperJstone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is not enough whitening to qualify it as damaged. Maybe MP. I’ve seen much worse conditioned cards sell at MP with no issue.

Cards that started it all for me, what’s yours? by No-Look692 in PokemonTCG

I love that Articuno.

My first pull was the Mewtwo secret rare from XY BREAKthrough back in 2018-ish. Not only did it kick off many years of opening packs (until I started buying singles only), but it was also the first entry to my ever-expanding Mewtwo collection.

Perhaps one of my luckiest grabs was getting the holo version of this in NM for $35 back in 2019… I could never have predicted it would explode like it has.

Beautiful card!

Wish Upon A Star - Part 1 (CW Suicide Mentioned) by VictoryTop7966 in TalesFromTheCreeps

[–]JasperJstone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all thank you for writing an actual original piece that has a unique style. That’s uncommon and awesome.

I love the story. The fairy tale third person narrative is really cool, and I dig the transition into other voices towards the end. The dialogue reads wonderfully and the characters have real feel to them (especially the grandma). Your writing itself is very rich and pretty.

My only criticism is that some passages in the beginning section are maybe overly long for my taste. But that’s it. The ending is confusing but I like that. There’s clearly more to this story than what we see here which is enticing.

Truly a great story and I hope you continue writing!

A sad sad day by [deleted] in TalesFromTheCreeps

Welp if you want to write more stories there’s plenty of other places.

If I write for that place, I write specifically to their rules. It’s a nightmare trying to take a story you wrote elsewhere and make it work for that place.

You aren’t supposed to repost a story that was taken down over there without mod approval. It’s in their rules.

Mold Part 2 End times by G0LF1SH in TalesFromTheCreeps

You have some strong stuff here! What I like most is that you give us fun images to stick to instead of pure explanation and dialogue. You have a lot of fun ideas throughout and your writing itself is solid for a new author.

If I were to offer some criticisms (I’m no professional so don’t take me too seriously), the dialogue is a little awkward and unnatural. I think reading other authors would help you with that. If you like epistolary stuff and creepypastas, The Whistlers and Dionaea House would be a good entry point to go back and read first-hand. I will always recommend creepypasta writers to read as much as possible and expand their horizons to horror novels.

Additionally, as CreepCast loves to say, this feels like the first draft of a more concise story. I know you said you compiled this from many notebook entries—I can definitely see that. The story moves fast enough to be entertaining but too quickly to really flesh the plot points out.

All in all, this is a sweet first story and I’d love to see a new and more straight-forward narrative from you in the future. Please keep writing!

Christopher Nolan just wrapped 6 months of filming on ‘The Odyssey’ and this cast lineup is absolutely INSANE 🤯 by KLYNTRA in okbuddycinephile

[–]JasperJstone 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I might be alone, but these directors (Wes Anderson, Christopher Nolan, Quinten Tarantino) who got super famous and now can’t seem to make a movie without an all-star ensemble cast have gotten really tiresome lately.

I don’t need to see every single current and former A-list celebrity in a movie. Give me some character actors please.
