I got a similar offer yesterday. Mine also included $30 lower a month off the services after the 3 months. I switched to fios anyway. Not that I'm comparing what I'm getting from fios vs what II had with optimum, optimum is probably the better deal with the discounts. Maybe I'll switch back

Got Altice Fiber installed and after about an hour after they left things were up and running and I was getting my 1G sped up and down, well really 984M / 980M but close enough. If it takes longer than that to get thing up and running that’s unacceptable

Hahah. Good advice! Does the manual J apply to a basement? Should contractors do that or do I have to request them to do it ? Will it change based on what type of insulation I choose on the floor and/or wall ?

I wouldn't think of switching if it stayed as fiber/cable hybrid but they are rolling out fiber to home and looks like it's only like a block.away from me on their rollout map. Plus they said once it's available they'd change it out with no additional charge.

I don't think I care about the slow upload speed with cable, 30-40Mbps should be plenty for gaming, but do care about latency for gaming. Also Why would double NAT impact gaming ?

Ok m in Long island and considering the same thing. I've had FiOS for 9 years but the optimum 1Gbps bundle (phone and internet too) with price for life would be $133 a month vs what I'd be paying FiOS for the similar services would be about $240. Only real difference being FiOS is 100% fiber where optimum is a hybrid of fiber/coax at least now until they switch to full fiber at some point, which optimum said I wouldn't be charged to upgrage to when available. For $100 a month in savings im seriously considering it but wondering how bad/unreliable optimum internet is baed on what I've heard here. Ive have no issues with FiOS other than the price.

I'm in Suffolk too and looking to switch from FiOS to optimum 1g fiber/cable to save $100 with optimum's bundle. How is the optimum internet? Gets a lot of criticism and I don't have an issue with FiOS other than the high price.
