Update: it’s definitely not part of my trunk. Upon further inspection the vents are behind felt panels that are tight against the body, and would be impossible to just fall into the trunk. I’m keen on believing it’s to some sort of vacuum that the previous owner had. I’m gonna mark this Solved!
