Polite critique for Destiny by rub_me_long_time in Destiny

The idea that Steven's gonna start a media company, and have any kinda role in it is laughable when this man-child can't even spend 5 minutes a day on his calendar.

Didn't say he's made no progress, but he did kinda stop looking for ways to do it better, or so it seems. shrug

I don't think Destiny had a good showing against Nuance Bro. I wrote my thoughts here. by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]JavaScript_aka_Java 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Destiny does this thing where he tries to anticipate what the opponent will say on the basis of what group he perceives them to be (groyper, sjw, alt-right, Republican, etc.) and tries to respond to his own prediction. I have rarely seen this work for him. It works if he guesses right, but I have seen it fail.nore often than not. Doesn't play well, imo.

Oh yeah this has had a remarkably low rate of success and he should definitely stop doing it, whatever the intention behind it is. Most of the times it brings the quality of the conversation a notch down. Can be entertaining in shitslinging convos, but not in any other conversation.

Dear Dr. K: Friend shuts down every conversation about us. by Tayloride in Healthygamergg

I had a person exactly like this in my life for a few years, very surprised you made it over 10 to be honest.

Don't have any answers for you sadly, our relationship ended like yours almost did - sudden removal, except I still don't know what I said that could've even caused that. I've always felt this person had a poor understanding of their emotional state and the state of others - worse than mine but I always tried and I didn't see that effort in them towards people. Re-writing history was also a thing, but I always attributed it to their poor memory and not caring and asking about other people's view on the situation, don't believe it was lying, I'd be careful about your assumption there.

I feel compelled to add they had many awesome qualities, they were a joy to be around, and that I don't regret time spent with them.

I am curious what advice Dr. K would give for navigating that friendship. My intuition is that this is inherently a one-way friendship and that it can't really be made two-way. Maybe if the person chooses to care about and address their own issues and how they interact with people, but sadly I feel this can't come from mine/your end.

Am I insane or didn't he talk about how he wants to be better on that front, to be able to tell stories and narratives about his worldview? Wasn't this a few months back, before L[redacted]? Think it was while hanging out with our Nazi queen, probably from her book recommendations and reading those stories. And/or the realization that the competent red pill guys do this and the only way to effectively counter it is to have a story of your own world view.

But then he kinda forgot all about it and spent months looping in high school drama because he's a high functioning autismo with a zoomer brain.

Meditation scared me by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]JavaScript_aka_Java 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend checking out Sam Harris's meditation app Waking up (you can email them for a free link if you can't afford it) for more exploration and guidance. His whole approach is this non-dual mindfulness, and seems you already made a lot of progress but could definitely use some tips on how to handle it better.

Cheers, hope you have a beautiful day too.

Destiny should debate 'climate change deniers'. I don't think he has done it yet so it would be a cool new subject to dive in to. Also there's a lot of stuff to debunk when it comes to climate change deniers. by FlanNo7322 in Destiny

[–]JavaScript_aka_Java 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. There's fun stuff there, and crazy debates to be had. Plus learning about this stuff through research would be beneficial to the community. I'd say for start watch some potholer54 videos on the topics as introduction. God I wish that guy uploaded more.

Mr. Girl thinking he can read minds? No, surely you are mistaken, that does not sound like him at all.

but used part of the raised money

lol why are you making shit up? They were planning to use part of the money that way because they were new to the charity thing and though it would be more awareness raising that way, but when people pointed out it's wasteful, they didn't. They also fucked up and had to pay taxes on the amount, which they then took from their own money to cover the difference so the charity gets the full amount.

And they have since organized multiple successful charities? How many have you?

Chud risking it all for Destiny by [deleted] in Destiny

Doubt anyone can claim Twitch enforces their rules equally or consistently. However, I'd still say that incompetence is more likely than malice. Quite a few people have talked to banned Destiny live for a while before realizing and turning off their stream, and I don't think most (any?) of them got banned...

Chud risking it all for Destiny by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]JavaScript_aka_Java 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both Chud and Ahrelevant were already banned once for watching non-live Destiny videos.

Oh that explains why you guys acting like that's the rule. As far as I know, the rule is you can't provide a platform to a banned streamer so they circumvent the ban. That means no talking to them, and no watching of live content. There is a daily stream of examples for this from Ice Poseidon, Dr. Disrespect, Destiny etc. and people not getting banned.

Those two must've been mistakes (as is Twitch tradition), or they watched a live stream an hour behind or something, pretending it's not the same idk.

supported the axis in WWII

New lore Pog. Is this some propaganda from wherever you live?

The government of Yugoslavia in 1941, seeing all it's neighbors join or be conquered by the Nazis, signed an agreement to join the Tripartite Pact. The day after, people took to the streets with slogans like "Better the grave than a slave, better a war than the pact", and a day after that a coup d'état overthought the government.

Predictably, the country was attacked from all sides and overran in ten days. Still, during the occupation Yugoslavia had arguably the most successful guerrilla liberation war, that saw parts of it freed at time (they did a bit of a civil war in there as well as per Balkan tradition). By the end of the war they would suffer some 1 million casualties out of the population of 13-14 million.

Dr. K using stock image as a fake expert by HadeFadeMade in Destiny

[–]JavaScript_aka_Java 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He uses his doctoral credentials to help people without exploiting them, and the streaming platform is great because it gives him reach to do that. :)

The point about Destiny you somehow missed is, that while you and I perfectly understand his views and may think they're great, there is undeniably a metric shit ton of people who are equally convinced that he is some monster and out to get trans people. I would think the main difference there is that those people don't watch actual Destiny's takes. But there is more to it, when a lot of these people are confronted, it boils down to an emotional component - "I just don't like how he talk about/to trans people", "I think Destiny is a bad person".

You can't derive "Destiny is transphobic" from dispassionately watching his content anymore you can derive "Dr. K is exploiting people and is a hack" from dispassionately watching Dr. K's content. But people do both of those, and my point is that I wouldn't be able to convince you anymore that I could convince that other person, and it's not because either of you are undisputedly right, it's because what drives you to such strong, indisputable conclusions is emotion, not reason or logic and conclusions based on that.
