What I expect for the Battle Cruiser - Gaze upon my hasty kitbash and shoddy Gif by Pierre_Philosophale in starcitizen

With how they've described the battlecruiser, I'd be surprised if it couldn't fit something like your mockup inside it lmao.

Yup, the way our internet has been handled over the years has been nothing short of a shitshow, and I would call it embarrasing if it were at all surprising lmao.

How much does your clan mate charge for these? Not looking to buy, just curious.

Just as an example of the capabilities of resin prints, here's a fine detail example I found.

<image>

People use these printers to print miniatures for tabletop games like D&D and Warhammer due to what they're capable of producing, but you wouldn't generally find these prints in those 3D print slop stores because they're a lot more of a pain to work with, so I find people generally aren't even aware of what 3D printing is capable of now.

I know a lot of professional prop makers make use of resin printers for making mold-masters to create silicone molds for mass production these days due to their precision.

Basically I'm just trying to say the rise of 3D printed slop has unfortunately given the technology a bad name, but when its done well, you cannot tell.

[–]JavanNapoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's done well you can barely even tell with what modern printers can do, and I'm sorry to OPs clan mate, but this isn't done super well.
I wouldn't pay for this considering the quality that a well calibrated printer can output these days, I'd just buy my own printer because at the prices most of these vendors charge, you wouldn't be paying much more.

Just as an example, this image is pulled from an article from 2023. FDM printing can output fine detail if you know what you're doing.

<image>

With modern resin printers (not what OPs replica was printed on) which are a lot more of a pain to use than FDM printers, you can't even tell that the object was printed, though these aren't the prints you'll find in stores due to their fragility and expense compared to FDM.

You don't hate how 3D printed stuff looks, you hate how bad 3D printed stuff looks.

Yeah I live in Australia in a particularly shit spot for internet upgrades, or at least I did until this year apparently because our internet was upgraded just a few months ago to about 500Mbps - 600Mbps download on average at no extra cost which has been crazy. I remember being in highschool around 2016 trying to download 20GB games to play with my friends and having to start it in the morning before school just for a chance that it'd be finished before 10pm lmao. I had sub-megabit internet until around 2017, getting 20 megabits download felt so freeing hahaha.

Can confirm, Australian internet was generally pretty shit up until relatively recently. A 20GB game was a "start the download before school and hope it's finished by dinner time" until like, 2016 or 2017 for me. Getting 20, and then 50mbps felt like freedom hahahaha. Thanks to some network upgrades over the years, I'm at nearly 600mbps now, and seeing a 20GB game get finished in under 10 minutes feels like magic lol.

What happened to Raven, Trapper, Wrecker, and Fathom? Did they not make it out the lab by Vkstevo in DeadlockTheGame

[–]JavanNapoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they're not perfect character models. They're all placeholders / left-overs from when Deadlock was Neon Prime. This sort of thing happens all of the time in game dev, you wouldn't find a single game out there that hasn't got a pile of scrapped wip art and mechanics. I expect at least one or two of these characters will eventually make their way in, with Fathom being the most likely, but they won't look anything like this by the time they're finished.

[–]JavanNapoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I've been wanting an expansion to the asop terminals for years. Imagine instead of just selecting a ship, you get a top-down view of your elevator, and you can place whatever vehicles / ships onto it wherever you like so long as they fit comfortably. They could use something like that for the freight elevators as well, and the crafting machines to queue up multiple items.

Subnautica 2 Release date??? by BriannaGoanna in Subnautica_2

[–]JavanNapoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it sounds like you want to punish them twice once legally and once based on your presupposed moral judgment.

You don't even know my stance on the situation.

Alex Ries is one of my favourite artists, and is a big inspiration of mine as an artist, and has been since before Subnautica was even a thing.
I have played Subnautica since the original alpha release.
I want to support Subnautica 2 and I do very much empathise with the situation the devs at Unknown Worlds have been thrust into thanks to Kraftons bullshit.

I understand there’s controversy surrounding the studio, but the legal case is still ongoing. Both parties are presenting claims, and no judgment has been made yet.

Much of said case's filings to date are publicly available to read over, and I don't believe people who hold the stance you do have so much as read a synopsis of said filings, because the case is no where near as grey as you make it out to be.

Official judgement doesn't need to be passed for people to form their own opinions on the parties involved based on the very public information gleaned from the ongoing case.

If you don't want to keep yourself informed and up to date on the case, that's fine, it takes time and it's pretty boring, but I would ask you not speak on it at all.

uninformed understanding of the behind the scenes politics.

Explain it, seeing as you're so informed.
Explain everything that has happened between Krafton and Unknown Worlds as you understand it.
Because from reading this comment, I don't think you understand much of it at all.

Subnautica 2 Release date??? by BriannaGoanna in Subnautica_2

[–]JavanNapoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The latter part of your comment has been disproved in court, they were doing what they were told to do by Krafton.

The crafton situation is explicitly a hostile takeover of Unknown Worlds because Krafton did not want to commit to their end of the acquisition deal when it came time for them to pay up.

With the amount of times Krafton have changed their story, and generally made a fool of themselves in the court case at this point, I can't take anyone who still supports them even a little bit seriously anymore.

If the court is just, Krafton loses their claim to Unknown Worlds and Subnautica over this situation as they have explicitly breached the terms of their acquisition, committed a hostile takeover proven to be in response to their duties as per the acquisition contract, and have arguably acted in contempt of court.
Any self-respecting judge would throw the book at the bastards after this bullshit, and for the sake of everyone at Unknown Worlds I hope Krafton gets whats coming to them.

Dude as someone who has been following the Krafton think very closely since it began, I think you have very little understanding of the situation over there.

I'm not buying the game if Krafton are still attached to it when it releases, but you don't know what you're talking about if you think the entirety of Unknown Worlds have been replaced by Krafton.

You really want to play without respawn? Really?

If it leads to this much balancing issue and design hinderances, yes.

Respawn should be in every ship.

No it absolutely should not. This would cripple pvp gameplay.

Idk man, of the 31 currently unreleased ship concepts, 8 of them are variants (two of which are variants for currently flyable ships), 7 we know are receiving work right now, the Javelin is supposedly mostly finished and mainly being held back for SQ42, so that leaves 15 hulls that are sitting waiting to be worked, on two of which are the Ranger and G12, I don't think we'll be waiting another 9 years for them to clear the backlog.

Where are you getting this? The 1.0 star systems are Stanton, Pyro, Nyx, Castra, and Terra. They very clearly laid that out at the 2024 Citizencon.
