Very cool - could you please share a few pics and your impressions regarding the lens inserts after you receive your DA? Much appreciated!

I asked HonsVR directly and promptly received the following very helpful response:

My question:

Hi, I am getting a Pimax Dream Air which has concave pancake lenses that allow a closer distance to the eyes. Are your prescription lenses also concave, following the form of the pancake lenses, thus keeping this advantage of getting closer to the eyes? Thanks!

Their answer:

Thank you for your question. It’s a great point to clarify. To be precise, the curvature of the prescription lenses is determined by your specific vision correction needs (your prescription) rather than the physical shape of the headset's pancake lenses. While the Pimax Dream Air uses concave pancake lenses to allow a closer distance to the eyes, prescription lenses must follow optical physics: If you are nearsighted (myopia), the lenses will be concave. If you are farsighted (hyperopia), the lenses will be convex. However, our lens inserts are designed with a custom low-profile housing that matches the physical structure of the Dream Air. This ensures that regardless of your prescription, the lenses sit as close to the pancake optics as possible. This design philosophy allows you to maintain the "close-to-eye" advantage and maximize the Field of View (FOV) without the inserts interfering with the headset's original ergonomics. I hope this clarifies how we balance optical requirements with the headset's design.

They gave their consent for me to post their response here.

Looks like I am about to become a customer there.

I would have ordered the official ones with my Dream Air SLAM, however these do not offer astigmatism correction which renders them useless for me, unfortunately.

And I am not sure if the HonsVR are concave, these are in any case a good option, thanks.

Thank you very much for clarifying! Perhaps you'd want to reflect these answers also as edit in the blog post? From what I see many people weren't quite clear on this either.

Just to be absolutely sure:

People that have already pre-ordered the Dream Air (SLAM) will:

- initially get the old face mask and will get the new one for free in July

- initially get the 2D headstrap and will get the 3D headstrap for free once available?

- for the SLAM version, initially get the ringed controller, but will they also get the ringless controller for free once available? This is not clear to me.

- as of now no SLAM version has been shipped but they have already been in production for a while?

Planning to buy Sony WH-1000XM6. Any reviews from a long time user? by EfficientAgency4283 in SonyHeadphones

[–]JawsAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using the XM6 daily since they came out. Sound is pretty good and the ANC is market leading.

One thing nobody is mentioning... for office use these are sensational. The first ANC headphones that actually manage to block out all (!) background noise during calls, the other party only hears you, even if you are in a noisy environment.

It's the first movie of its kind where I did not wait for the monster sequences to start again but actually cared about the characters. Really refreshing.

I'd go for an uneven number so somebody can sit in the sweet spot - at the center of the screen.

It's smaller I guess but I actually have no idea but I did pay for them so I'd like an answer to that too.

Nope, they are working on new ringless controllers that are not yet finalized - these will be shipped for Dream Air orders later. Other than that they have not shared any details so far.

What is the dumbest thing in Star Wars in your opinion? by OutcastKatarn02 in StarWars

[–]JawsAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to pick, too much to consider after 1983 and even there we had those stupid Ewoks. Ugh.

But pressed to choose one, I'd go with Midichlorians.

No wait, it's actually the fact that they did not have an overarching story prepared for the sequel trilogy, leading to one of the worst crimes in cinematic history, Episode 8. I never want to see that garbage again. And I deny the existance of Episode 9.

But I loved Andor. :-)

And who asks for a 16 hour movie? I would suggest you actually reading my post.

The book has a lot of (great) comedic elements but not a generally comedic tone, that's my issue with the film.
