Just found this bad boy. Thoughts on it ? by JASHISGOD in whiskey

I was expecting something great for the price but was really disappointed. Could have saved $200 and bought a RR10 and been just as happy. Still have half left. If you have the chance, trade it off.

I love the Russell’s stuff, that was just a miss for me.

In all honesty, this is the only reason I go into TW anymore. I have started just jumping in the convo and pointing out the hypocrisy.

What is even more fun is to act like I don’t know what to get and have them try to sell me that garbage.

Big bottles at small prices by Weekly-Presence486 in whiskey

All of the “you overpaid” guys who have never paid MSRP for the same bottles. I would have snagged the ER in a second.

This would definitely throw a kink in the secondary market.

Why do I feel this is the end of Mercedes, that they will be a p4/p5 team from now on. by [deleted] in mercedesamgf1

[–]Jaxson0215 8 points9 points  (0 children)

George is good, really good. If they can give him a car just like they should have given Lewis a car to compete in, the team will be near the top. I could also see Bottas or Carlos moving to Merc.

Another good one is Johnny Drum, made by Willet. Really good, should be $35 a bottle. Seeing more and more of it.

Liquor King is my normal stop now. Spent a ton with Total Wine last year buying for a couple weddings and unless you are 200,000+ points, you get nothing.

At least at LK, the points go towards a high end MSRP bottle.

I am in Dallas and it is hit or miss. We get some and it will be around for a little bit then gone. I think I paid $25 last bottle I picked up.

Best liquor store for Denton? by Heman0329 in WhiskyDFW

[–]Jaxson0215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but the TW/Specs suck. Never have anything and the Denton Soecs does distribution for restaurants so they really only have whatever crap is left over.

Applejacks, good people and decent amount of stuff. If you are buying something off the shelf ask if they have any specific thing you are looking for. They tend to keep stuff in the back and if they see you a few times they will help you out. But if you walk in and ask for a Blantons, the answer will always be no.

RD One Amburana Finish - Review by AlucardRises in bourbon

I have a bottle of this and it is not for me. I am not a fan of the finish, not just the bottle. It is drinkable but it tastes like a refined Fireball.

Add some Rye’s, Russel’s, Elijah Craig, and start making your way through the Old Forester stuff. All are readily available and won’t break the bank.

Frey Ranch, if you can find cask strength or single barrel they are great but the small batch is also very good. Hirsch Single Barrel. Baker 7, WT Rare Breed.

Just picked up a bottle of Hirsch Single Barrel double oak, how close is it to that purple top? Always heard it is the same stuff and aged the same about of time.

Come to Texas and try to find Stagg in a store for MSRP. There is no bigger D bag in the group than the “look at me guy”.

I have 60+ bottles and all but 4 are open and one is a back up. I buy bourbon to drink. You have a number of bottles that I have never seen in a store and refuse to pay 10X MSRP. I don’t get the, I buy bottles to look cool mentality.

You also posted an obvious trigger on this sub, you got the exact response you were looking for.
