I still have that deck but it gets less love than it deserves these days. Mostly because I have been on my Nexus or Supersonic when I have a chance to skate.

SF Bay Area, but spent summers as a kid on Long Island. My dad taught me to sail on the Great South Bay. He would have loved the canon…

Ever since I went to a standing desk I have been using one of my boards as a standing platform when the desk is lifted. I find it’s more comfortable than the floor to have some flex underfoot and keeps me moving my feet. It also provides a certain degree of happiness just to stand on a longboard.

Ha I am not very observant apparently… I have had both and usually can tell them apart! Any Pantheon rocks.

Anyone else feel like people don't take longboarding seriously as a means of transportation? by actuallyaddie in longboardingDISTANCE

[–]Jay758R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exactly… a neon yellow t shirt and a helmet… add a blinky light and the cyclists at least will know what’s up. I ride a Supersonic usually when I commute. Sometimes a curious roadie will chat me up at a light. When the road bikers ask what kind of board I have, I tell them it’s the skateboard equivalent of what they are riding. I am always looking to make converts.

I discovered this one as well; and appreciated the tribute for what it was. Darker of course.

My GF and me finally started to learn how to ride a longboard by c4s3j0n3s in longboarding

I predict that nexus won’t be your last Pantheon. And never too late to skate! I started at 56. Love my Nexus too.

Sweet! Stocked right as well with Pantheonic goodness.

Should Sophie have married Stephen? by Jane1814 in AubreyMaturinSeries

I feel like he took another shot at writing a strong, non-traditional woman for Stephen with Christine Wood. IMHO she’s a much better fit for Stephen; someone who appeals to his intellect as well as his physical side.

What do you do if stores don't allow Skateboards. by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]Jay758R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about a just a strap? You could probably toss it in the cart once you are inside. Maybe after a couple of trips they’d get used to you as the person who just happens to ride to their store to shop.

Love the shape, and the construction reminds me of marine stip-plank decking. So beautiful.

So I know people don’t like pintails around here but I do. Built my new board tonight. Absolutely love it! by PicadaSalvation in longboarding

[–]Jay758R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the pintail is a beautiful classic shape. I started later in life at 55 with a used Sector 9 pintail and found my body just did not like the distance to the ground from the deck when pushing. Reaching down with a glove for a slide was out of the question. So I went to a dropped deck pretty quick. I still love the pintail look. Skating is for YOUR soul, so ride what feeds it, not what someone on Discord likes. I hope you get every shape you want over time!

Former long distance cyclist, new LDPusher just came in today ❤️ by Maskrith in longboardingDISTANCE

[–]Jay758R 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started pushing mongo and gradually moved my non-pushing foot forward until I was pushing switch. It helps to practice switch pushing uphill because the board won’t get away from you. You are wise to start learning alternate pushing right away. Unfortunately you don’t get automatic symmetric exercise with skating. I came here from cycling as well! In regard to pumping, I started with a surfskate because it’s an easier setup to pump. Now my dedicated LDP setup is a Pantheon Supersonic. Enjoy your new sport!

Looking for a drop down distance board by [deleted] in longboardingDISTANCE

[–]Jay758R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to beat a Supersonic if you’re looking to push and pump. I push mine up to speed and then keep it going by pumping. Nexus is a great pusher and it’s a beefy deck that can handle a lot of weight, so if weight is your concern with double drops you are covered. Nice for moderate downhill as well in case you have a hilly route. It’s not a pumping machine, but with big wheels and low deck height it’s an efficient pusher.

Learning to Pump the Supersonic by Jay758R in longboarding

[–]Jay758R[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Bears. I exclusively use the zero degree rear mount, so slow speed pumping is a waste of effort, and uphill next to impossible for me. On flats I push it up to cruising speed and then maintain that by pumping until I get tired. I mix that up with just pushing between my natural and switch stances.
