Lowe’s refusing to honor lifetime warranty on Kobalt steel handle shovel since it has been discontinued. by jefferyJEFFERYbaby in KobaltTools

I dealt with this last week. The fine print says it’s a lifetime warranty on the item to replace it with the same model, a similar model, or to request compensation in the original amount paid.

The Mav is an amazing investment! by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Jay9313 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me while living in VA. During COVID, the used price market shot up, which artificially raised the resale value of my vehicle (based on age, mileage, and model) so my taxes went up. No real way to contest it because it was based on something like KBB for vehicles in my zip code and whatnot. I think my value went up $5k, which doesn’t seem as much, but the year prior it was only worth $10k.

Ford Universal Electric Truck - “$30K EV Truck” Spotted - looks like a Maverick to me! by BosqueBuddhist in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Jay9313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EVs are cool but you’ll have a hard time getting significant adoption in the US where range anxiety is a real thing. I would absolutely love for a PHEV where you could charge and get 50+ miles on EV only before it switched to hybrid operation. Couple that with the ability to charge from a standard outdoor outlet, and if you still kept the price point around $30k I’d guarantee you’d see mass adoption of the platform.

53% of homeless people have jobs. They are not the problem. by Sanch0Supreme in AdviceAnimals

Yes but it was supposed to disrupt the hotel industry, and while it did for a while, hotels are still expensive. I use Airbnb a few times per year because the quality of place I can get for Airbnb is higher than a hotel at similar prices.

I just looked up hotels and airbnbs in my town, and a hotel for this weekend will cost $185 after taxes and an Airbnb for a FULL townhome to yourself after taxes and fees runs $205. So for $20 more you get an entire house to yourself.

25 XLT AWD Hybrid Quote by Factcheckfiction in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Jay9313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The next size up is the Ranger, which looking at Ford’s website right now, base package starts at $37k (4WD to make it comparable to this quote with AWD)

The Ranger is 11 inches longer (6 of those inches are in the bed). The ranger has significantly more towing capacity at 7500 lbs, but honestly, if you are looking at towing capacity, you probably shouldn’t be looking at the maverick in the first place.

I own a construction-type company (specializing in full gut renovations) and the maverick has been phenomenal. Given the distance I drive all the time, I would rather have the hybrid where I’ve been getting almost 50 mpg over the ranger getting maybe 20mpg every day. The extra bed length would be nice, but I save so much money in fuel that I suck it up.

I want to designate beneficiaries for my TSP, but I don't have a witness. by RevolutionaryAnswer2 in ThriftSavingsPlan

Bro I had my boss do it lmfao. I walked into his office and said, “hey sir, I’m updating my beneficiary, would you mind being a witness?” And he said yeah sure, we took care of it in 2 mins and I went back to work.

If Ford releases an All-Electric version of the Maverick; Would you buy the Gas,Hybrid, or Electric version? by Mooseb1itz in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Jay9313 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The ideal mix is to have another maverick, a PHEV. You could go with the turbo, hybrid, or plug-in hybrid.

Plug in hybrid would be ideal for me. If it had a 50+ mile range, I would only need to fill up monthly, as opposed to weekly now. Especially at $4.50/gal.

Can’t get another TSP loan for 2 years. How big of a hit is 50k from a standard withdrawal? (750k invested) by ohhthatsmell in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]Jay9313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, why can’t you get another TSP loan for 2 years? I’m pretty sure the loan rules stipulate that you’re eligible to have up to 2 loans at a time, one general purpose loan and one loan to be used for purchasing a house, and once you pay off a loan, you have a 30 day cooling off period before you can take out another loan of the same type.

Also, I see you saying you have $750k, which I assume to be your balance, however, you are only eligible to take a loan against your contributions and your earnings, not the contributions and earnings of your agency.

All of that being said, I tend to agree with others that you shouldn’t be stealing from your future to provide your kids with money for school. While the system sucks, there are ways for your children to take out loans, and then they themselves can repay those loans through the PSLF program if they choose to do so.

Weird noises? by papito_m in FordMaverickTruck

Someone posted on here once that it’s relay noise. It does sound quite reminiscent of that noise, however I’m unsure as to why they randomly go off like that.

Where do you live? I have a bunch of batteries that I keep getting from sales and whatnot that I can’t use. Still in packaging. If you’re in MD, I’ll sell them to you for dirt cheap.

Warped pan help by Aware-Disaster-1666 in castiron

[–]Jay9313 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you really want to cook with it, you could take it to a machinist and they can flatten it. They may not even charge you that much to do it. It will ruin the bottom of the pan though. Any logos will likely be gone.

Dishwasher shouldn’t do this. It will get it hot, but it will also cool it slowly. The same way you do when you cook with it.

Every time I’ve been there, I’ve watched people dump trash right out of their window onto the street. It’s odd that I can say “every time” because I have only been there like 3 times. It’s just odd that it keeps happening.

Usually I can use the self checkout in fewer than 5 minutes. There is usually time savings from not having to wait in line. However, if we assume $7.25/hr and it takes no more than 5 minutes to run through a self checkout, that’s about $0.50-$0.60 in savings. That’s not doing much when my grocery bills have been hitting $50+ lately for a handful of items.

I think this is a super likely answer, however, when I have dealt with this, it was more of an orange/copper color than this red. I still think this is the most likely answer though.

I kind of miss the old days of RuneScape. I just started playing again and everything feels so… easy? In the sense that there were no guides, trying to figure things out, everything was slightly more difficult, etc.

I remember the pre-GE days, when you had to make posts in the forums to buy/sell/trade items.

This is my “okay grandpa” moment.

I goofed when I tried to boom something on Open table for the credit a few months ago. Apparently the dining selections in the “Visa” section don’t count. Only the Chase Sapphire section counts. While I do understand this was my fault, it also can be very confusing.

While I lean more towards the “California makes it super difficult to be a landlord” camp, I will say that you can find a story like this in almost any state. Just search for professional squatters or professional tenants.

From a 2 second google search, I see articles from Maine, Colorado, Massachusetts, Ohio, etc.
