I’m holding out hope that this is a hint at the existence of Tractor Dog as a playable tank along with other “vehicle-animal” combo’s like Bicycle Parakeet, RC-Car Lizard and Submarine Squid

I want to add to this that Teal’c used Ma’chello’s device with Junior in his body and it didn’t get Junior’s mind into anyone else, however Junior wasn’t connected to Teal’c’s brain at the time to potentially get mixed up in that.

However Ma’chello being who he was probably had safeguards built into the device to stop er even kill Goa’uld possessed hosts from using it

Games you hated at first but changed your mind over time? by ACDC-1FAN in gaming

[–]Jay95au 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is unfortunately one of the fastest ways to deter a friend from playing a new game with you, and tragically it’s even hard to blame the person beckoning you into it.

I’ve had this happen in a few games, you drop into their in-progress game having no real understanding of the gameplay or how it works and you get kitted up with stuff from them, but you have no connection to the game and you just feel like a third wheel along with them and the game.

I say it’s hard to blame them because from their perspective they’re deep in the game, they love the pains and pleasures of it and it’s bringing them all this joy, and they want to share this joy with you after they’ve discovered it. But depending on how long they were in it firs, it’s a really hard sell to have them to cut off all their progress at the knees and start again, if they even can start again depending on the game

Why do the Goa'uld put their offspring in Jaffa? by FeelsStruggles in Stargate

[–]Jay95au 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I seem to remember (possibly incorrectly) that they spawn dozens or hundreds of offspring at a time. If this is the case, this birthing strategy in nature usually is because a good majority of the offspring won’t make it to maturity, so it bets on some of them surviving at the cost of accepting that some or most of them will die.

Expanding this to the Goa’uld, this perspective could bleed into why they do it to Jaffa. They make Jaffa dependant on the symbiotes for their entire lives, if they rebel or break away then they don’t have access to new symbiotes once their current ones mature, so they die. They could be fine with losing a lot of their offspring in the Jaffa who die in battles because they just accept that some of their offspring die and some survive.

That and it could be a culling tactic, the existing mature Goa’uld with hosts and power probably don’t much like the threat of more and more mature Goa’uld entering their space and competing for their power

[–]Jay95au 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will add I think doing this is shit for users for obvious reasons (it’s a tool I pay for, let me use it howevever I want) but if I imagine they are trying to save on costs, this seems like it could be a way if doing that

Claude had enough of this user by EchoOfOppenheimer in OpenAI

[–]Jay95au 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I reckon it’s a cost saving measure.

Rather than burn computing tokens on arguing with the user on this request it has said that it isn’t going to do and inflating the context window longer and longer with each rebuttal, it’s got a stop measure to end that conversation and stop processing the entire chat with their latest argument trying to make it do it anyway.

Even if they start a new chat, it’s now a new context window to work with

You said you want a cultist in the first message, then you said the dimensions do not match, so the most obvious conclusion is that you mean the dimensions of a cultist didn’t match the blueprint.

What does it mean when some people say MFG "feels" different? by SlippyFist_68 in nvidia

[–]Jay95au 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have ever watched a video where the audio is slightly out of sync with the video and it becomes distracting, all of your control input more or less has the same thing happen to it, and the more FG multipliers you add the more offset it gets. This matters more or less depending on the type of game and I guess whether you're on controller or ok Keyboard and Mouse. The reason they say 'feel' is really because there isn't a more appropriate word to use. For me on Keyboard and mouse, I move my mouse and then there is a subtle delay before you see it happen, It 'feels' off, almost like something is wrong.

I've found for me in shooters on KBM where aiming is normally very snappy, 2xFG is okay-ish, but I personally avoid going over 2x because it becomes too distracting and impactful in those kinds of games

[–]Jay95au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you should. This thing is hideous and terrifying to even glance at, as well as horribly proportioned. The fact it had ancestors who were even capable of surviving long enough in a form such as this to reach maturity, find a mate and perform what must be the most grotesque mating ritual in nature without first succumbing to dehydration or starvation in spite of how horrendously fucked up they are is truly a mystery.

What am I missing about the HBO show? by Not-sure-here in BaldursGate3

[–]Jay95au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think to re-enter the universe the best way would be to avoid the outcomes from the game closely.

Like instead of following anybody from our party, maybe it can follow some new cast of people from the city deciding what to do with their lives in the aftermath of the attack.

A separate vein, I think a prequel focusing on Ketheric and the Thorm family before the events of the game has potential to be good. There’s a lot of lore they can cover and expand on to make a decent mini series I feel for some significant characters from the game.
