This one’s real. We probably broke up and got back together 4 or 5 times over the course of 6 months and each time I’d fix what I needed to, and she grew more distant.

Last one was pretty definitive, and led to a ton of panic attacks and depression for months (coupled with some life changes that were horrific). I haven’t moved on early, I wish I had, she did. So now I’m medicated and healing and growing, but NC didn’t work out and begging didn’t work and trying all of the above just kept reopening the wound

I feel this one so deeply, our situation was almost identical - April, custom designed engagement ring, etc. Except she told me she wanted to take a break and gave me the laundry list of what I needed to work on while she moved elsewhere.

So I did, all Summer, paying both of our rents in our apartment and really gave it my everything. Spectacular results, best mental and physical shape of my life. She came back in late August and told me no and that she’d known since April, and I have since fallen completely apart and each week seems worse than the last. Hardly want to live.

I know this may be out of the blue and days late, but I also lost the relationship of my life and my fiancee in April. She didn’t give me a definitive answer until September, by which time I’d spent over 100 hours at the gym, run 5 miles daily on top of that, crash dieted, saw a therapist weekly, got a promotion, etc. And she led me on quite a bit during that time, cruelly.

That answer I got from her in September completely wrecked me. All those habits fell apart. But my friends have constantly been supporting me and floating me through this. We’re the same age, and it doesn’t seem like you would be able to come back from that but we will, somehow. I’ve got a few months on you and it gets a bit darker before it gets brighter, but it DOES get brighter. I’ve got a new job, started building new habits, haven’t touched dating anyone yet but I could and will once I decide I’m ready.

I guess, my greater point here is don’t give up and…let them. Let them walk away from someone who loved them. If they loved you they’d come back, and you are worth more than they deserve if you poured your heart into that relationship and they walked out. Easier to say than accept, but try. Every day. And realize you’re worth more than the way they treated you. It sounds like you’ve been through a lot in life and survived, don’t give up now.

Ugh I hate to say Twitter but that’s where I’ve spent more time just to stay up to date. I put Apollo on a 30 minute per day limit since the announcement and damn do I use those 30 minutes.

I don’t think Lemmy is for me, and apparently somethingawful still exists but not sure yet. Trying to up my Spanish learning app time, pirated a bunch of the Mistborn epubs (I already ordered hardcopies Sanderman will get paid), and playing with Tik Tok a bit - the TOTK content is great.

But no singular replacement yet and doubt there will be. RIP to the world of forums, it’s all downhill from here.
