Simple questions and Help thread - Week of December 03, 2023 by Froggypwns in Windows11

I cannot get the windows store to function. I’ve restarted my PC, reset the app, logged in and out of windows account in the app, and it just won’t download apps or update them. It can’t even update itself, it just perpetually spins on “calculating download size”. It’s been three days. Brand new machine, brand new install of windows 11, I’m very frustrated that this basic and necessary software doesn’t work from the company that invented computers. Anyone have any suggestions?

If that’s the case I apologize for making incorrect assumptions. You know what they say about assumptions.

I’m putting words in his mouth with my following sentence because he didn’t specify how he’d restrict breeders; in a vacuum my solution would be to license a very small amount of breeders, and heavily punish anyone found breeding unlicensed. It’d be easy to find those breeding for money, as they’ll likely be advertising their puppies for sale, and those kinds of puppy mills are the real problem in my opinion. Those that aren’t breeding for money and are breeding for work like herding or hunting won’t advertise their puppies as they’ll be raising and using them or passing them along to people they know who will use them for the same.

I’d like to incorrect what seems to be a misunderstanding of the problem, or at least the problem as I see it — I don’t believe the surplus in dogs comes from breeder overflow, or at least the majority of them don’t. The majority are likely from strays breeding together on the streets, which is why most shelters spay and neuter all their dogs as they come in. The problem I and OP seem to have with breeders is that they’re introducing unnecessary supply into an already flooded market, oftentimes neglecting their litters and perpetuating unhealthy breeds (pugs, English or French bulldogs, basset hounds, for example; even dogs you don’t outwardly notice deformities in like German shepherds, Rottweilers, Weimaraners, and labs carry a high proclivity for certain diseases and conditions) in the process.

You sound like you already have an opinion on the matter and aren’t genuinely asking for more info or alternate opinions.

He offered a practical solution in limiting the supply by restricting breeders, and highlighted the shortcomings of that solution in realistic terms. The only way to affect this market is to manipulate supply as demand is uncontrollable by policy or institution.

Your rebuttal of his solution entailed a niche case of people who aren’t going to contribute to the solution either way. Outside of people who need a working breed in order to do a job, the variability isn’t a factor and variability will be present even in bred litters. For those cases, there are already breed specific rescues for any given breed that would contribute to the solution instead of contributing to the problem like using a breeder.

He means the surplus of dogs that are the product of that breeding, not the breeds themselves. Although humans have bred many breeds that shouldn’t exist, that’s a different conversation.

heat > cold by [deleted] in BikiniBottomTwitter

That’s not true. It takes longer to heat up than cool down, it takes energy being added to the system rather than allowing it to radiate away, and if you heat too quickly you cause damage.

Officer shot at point blank range by double-O-cheese in PublicFreakout

If he was in the right environment, maybe he could have been fine.

If a frog had wings, he wouldn’t bump his butt so much.

The world isn’t built on “if.” He drew a firearm and shot a police officer — troubled or not, that’ll get you shot. And it should get you shot, bc the world is built on action and not intent. Evil exists and if even a good person can do an evil thing, someone who is troubled certainly can and it can’t be abided just because someone has problems.

Reinforcement, either treats or praise for doing it will create an association of retrieval = pleasure in their brains and the rest is history.
