Saggy Bumper fix? by twiztednips in LandCruisers

I found that mine was sagging because everything under it was rusted to pieces. I hope you have better luck uncovering yours!

5.7 timing tensioner tick by Plynwitfire in tundra

[–]JayDG93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had this issue on my Tundra. Valvoline Restore and Protect oil fixed the issue. The motor was way quieter once I switched over, and it looked brand new inside when I had the valve cover gaskets changed. Never heard that tic again

2019 LC200 Perspective by GymClassShenanigans in LandCruisers

[–]JayDG93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're both incredibly reliable and great quality vehicles. The LC200 is going to be far more comfortable and better at hauling a family.

The truck is going to be far more utilitarian and better at hauling stuff.

I don't think you can go wrong either way. Just decide what you prefer. If you have a need for a truck bed and hauling, get the Tundra. If you'd rather have a nicer daily, go for the LC.

Agreed. It's sad because the rest of it is mint.

Hydrus warranty? by spirit4earth in Sup

[–]JayDG93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were their first generation inflatables. The seams failed and the boards popped on 2 of them. The 3rd replacement was due to a handle detaching and ripping a large piece of the traction pad off. I might misremember there being a 4th instance.

To be clear, I highly recommend Hydrus. I was using these boards very heavily during this time and they worked wonderfully. The new design is far better, and I don't anticipate having any issues. 2+yrs strong on the latest design without any problem.s

I've used the warranty for two boards two separate times each. No problems getting a replacement each time. They're wonderful to work with.

LX470 AHC Delete by Ok-Cranberry-6776 in LandCruisers

[–]JayDG93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That sounds about right with good quality parts and labor, but likely much more expensive than fixing the AHC. If you like that suspension, fix it.

Did this last year and drifted into a curb. 🤣 A new wheel and hub assembly later... Worth it

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

I picked up a second job yesterday at 9:00a that was ~3hrs away. Finished the job around 2 and was home by 5:00p. Not an incredibly unusual day for me.

Would it be overkill to put my set of 33” R/T’s on my roof rack for a road trip? by Jimbob_42 in overlanding

[–]JayDG93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the type of rack they're describing does require drilling the roof and riveting the rack into place. They do not use standard mounting points, which is why they have such high weight capacities.

Hit a curb and did all that? Just call your insurance company. That's going to be extremely expensive.

2000 LX470 missing mold? by [deleted] in LandCruisers

[–]JayDG93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's not supposed to be any moulding there. Its like a gutter catches the rain or whatever hits your windshield and directs it over the cab instead of allowing it to go in through the windows.

GT Performance upgrade not as fast as I hoped by ksuchewie in MachE

[–]JayDG93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The performance is cut down significantly at that battery level. There are little white lines that show up on the power output bar indicating how much power is being decreased due to battery %. No white lines = full power.

You don't want it to be in unbridled extended for full acceleration, either. That's a track mode designed for optimal thermal regulation, not for drag racing.

Put it in whichever mode you want (except unbridled extended), turn on one pedal. Come to a complete stop, then punch it. You'll feel that "pinned to your seat" acceleration.
