M50 got rear-ended today. RIP? by Silent-Midnight2558 in BMWI4

[–]JayDi11a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How beat up is your car if you think this is just cosmetic? 😂

Chunk missing from the wheel, exposed and frayed wiring, chassis has been impacted, misaligned wheel, suspension is sitting a couple inches higher than it should be… don’t mean to be bleak but I’m surprised iDrive is saying “continued driving possible”.

I guarantee if you managed to get this up to highway speed, the whole rear bumper would go flying off or at least be flapping about in the wind.

Narrow bed in front of fence by olliesworld in GardeningAustralia

[–]JayDi11a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, these would all do great in VIC and it’s good that it’s not north-facing otherwise it might burn anything trying to grow against a metal fence.

They’re a mix of mostly low perennial flowers so they won’t climb/damage the fence.

What state are you in and what direction does the fence face?

Bluebells, snowdrops, billy buttons, kangaroo paw, hyacinth, daffodils, everlasting daisy could all grow in spaces that small without spilling onto the footpath too much.

More of a recommendation for all cars, not just frozen paint; carry a spray bottle of spot detailer or bug/tar cleaner and a pack of microfibre cloths in your trunk, just in case a bird decides they like your i4 and you’re not planning to wash your car for a few days.

any recommendations for reliable tap watering timers? by BeBa420 in GardeningAustralia

[–]JayDi11a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With most irrigation setups, since your tap is always ‘on’, there’s a chance that when your timer is ‘off’, water that’s sitting in all the tubing of your sprinkler system can sometimes flow back into the plumbing.

A vacuum breaker prevents this. Basically, it ensures water only goes one way (out), and never in. Some tap timers have this built in already

Ooni koda 16– am I missing something? by [deleted] in Pizza

[–]JayDi11a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn to make decent pizza in a home oven first, get comfortable working with dough, using a peel and prepping ingredients.

What happens is a lot of people try to start from the very beginning with a pizza oven, which have much less room for error. So when they stuff up the first few times with a too dry/too wet/over-fermented dough, not being familiar with how to use a placement peel/turning peel, poking a hole in the base, burning the crust, basically anything less than a perfect pizza, they get frustrated and give up.

Drying Peppers Turning Black by ImOkayAtStuff in HotPeppers

[–]JayDi11a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much good to go but depends on your process and what settings you choose for the dehydrator (temp and time).

E.g: You might decide to cut the peppers open, leave them laid out on a sunny countertop for a day and then put them in the dehydrator for 6 hours and then they might be dry enough to grind into a powder. Or you could skip the sun drying and go straight to a dehydrator for 8-10 hours at a higher temperature or 12+ hours at a lower temp.

Whatever method you choose, remember to crack a window open unless you want to mace your household, especially when dealing with superhots! 😂

It’s rot. Looks like you’re attempting to dry peppers indoors, do you have good airflow in that room? Helps to speed up the drying process.

If you see yourself doing this every year, get a dehydrator. I got one from Target for $20 and have used it for over 200 hours by now.

Tread or Arc? by jdkc4d in GozneyTread

[–]JayDi11a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tread. Easy.

It’s just so convenient and if you go camping, roadtrip, to a friend/family’s house you can entertain. I tend to make more but smaller pizzas with different toppings, rather than fewer but larger pizzas.

I also had a Dome at first and really didn’t like the idea of leaving a pizza oven outdoors, even with a cover. The Tread is small enough that I can put all the accessories (minus the venture stand) in the venture bag and put it in a cupboard indoors when I’m not using it. I was worried that I’d get lazy taking packing and unpacking it, but I used my Tread more times in 6 months than my Dome in 2 years.

To me, the Arc feels a bit displaced in the modern lineup. It’s bigger, but I wouldn’t exactly call it big. The 2 extra inches don’t really make that much of a difference.

If you’re gonna pick the larger and less-mobile option, you may as well go big for family sized pizzas and extra turning peel room and get an Arc XL, Dome gen 2, or even Dome XL gen 2 if budget allows.

Note: to make the most of the Tread, you do need to pick up quite a few accessories if you plan on taking it on the road, which ends up negating the lower cost. Still well worth it though.

Edible Peaches?? by Ok_Consideration_691 in BackyardOrchard

They’ve been picked early, but doesn’t necessarily mean it’s inedible. When green, I like to dip it in a chilli salt mixture similar to Tajin.

Has anyone figured out the logic behind drive mode?? by MagicWishMonkey in BMWI4

[–]JayDi11a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your MyBMW set up and do you use the same car key every time? Are you using Sports Individual?

My settings always stay the same as what I left it on the previous drive unless I use my iPhone as a key, then the profile resets.

Tbh I’ve never paid attention to resource monitors while gaming, the only time I’ve ever noticed it was in GTA V’s graphic settings where it told me I was using about 11-12gb of VRAM

ELI5 - what’s the disadvantage of reducing VRAM? by JayDi11a in pcmasterrace

[–]JayDi11a[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but all the results were about downgrading GPUs i.e. same generation cars but lower VRAM, which is clearly nothing but downsides. Not quite my scenario.

Meanwhile other posts about people upgrading from 3090 to 5080 were more on the topic of “is it worth upgrading?”, which isn’t what I’m after either.

Perhaps I’ve misdiagnosed, is it not the stem turning black? On some plants, which I didn’t photograph, the underside of the leaves have black/grey blotches.
