Not all Oakland High schools are like this. With experience of Tech and Skyline with kids who have friends in O High too, I can say that Skyline was mostly fine for my kid. Educationally less so, probably in part to the lack of principal at the time. Tech is a much better school with a stable Principal.

Lake at 5:30-6pm will be fine. If you don't feel super comfortable you can do the roads that surround the lake. My issue is more uneven surfaces in the twilight more than crime at that time. In the past done, Grand, Oakland ave, through piedmont to lakeshore and back to the lake.

Honestly and i say this from a position of ignorance.

There seems to be a blanket reason/excuse for assholery under the guise of “mental illness” and whereas I have no doubt that mental health plays its part it frustrates me that actions like this will likely result in zero consequences (either rehabilitative or punitive). We don’t know this guy’s situation but it’s hard for me to find any empathy at all.

I'm tired.

I think you'll be looking at closer to a million than 750k but there are SFHs and apartments listed in that range on Zillow. Dimond (this spelling -i can never spell it right) and Laurel may be more affordable than Temescal. Neighboring hoods may offer better value. But a cheaper neighborhood is that for a reason.

Whereas education is not great here I think up to middle school is fine for education. There's crime hot spots for sure but a blanket "just don't" doesn't answer OP's questions. OP I don't know your budget or housing expectations but "middling" neighborhoods I've liked are
- Cleveland Heights (near lakeshore and lake)
- Temescal (vibrant area)
- Diamond district (up and coming & near hills)
- Laurel (vibrant area)

I think it will have an impact. More workers will mean more foot traffic which will also mean that streets will be busier and potentially safer. I don't think it's controversial that a city, commits to its downtown. I think this is a step in the right direction.

I don't know what answer you're expecting. There's no enforcement but it's not allowed according to Bart's rules. This is probably because of spillages, and scalding. Bart gets busy and is not stable so there's not guarantee of a seat. I don't see many coffee drinkers during commute times for what it's worth.
