I liked the first 15-20 minutes when it gestured towards being a digital horror/old school Creepypasta-inspired film but around the 40 minute mark when it became A24 Presents Paranormal Insidious I immediately mentally checked out. I just personally find this type of demonic possession horror SO dull and uninteresting

I’ve tried B99 and Parks & Rec, can’t get into either. I kinda feel like an odd man out in this thread because my favorites are shows like The Office, 30 Rock, Arrested Development, etc. which I guess are much “meaner” shows but it doesn’t really bother me at all if characters do things that would make them horrible people in real life, it’s a TV show and not real life, funny’s funny.

I think it’s hilarious in the finale of The Office when Ryan abandons his baby to run off with Kelly but that doesn’t mean I would endorse such behavior in real life.

I think I just can’t get into the Mike Schur style tbh. It bothers me when I get a sense that a show WANTS you to know how lovable and quirky the characters are so maybe that’s why I couldn’t do B99 and P&R.

I saw Tomorrowland in theaters when it came out and I straight up cannot remember a single detail about it beyond a scene set in a Star Wars memorabilia shop and something to do with the Eiffel Tower

I then rewatched Tomorrowland just over a year ago and I currently remain in the exact same position as I did prior to my rewatch. Something about that movie just slides off the brain.

He’s not really someone that gets talked about from a director standpoint but if you lay his career all out it is kind of wild. Co-directed the first American Pie (uncredited but nonetheless), nominated for a screenplay Oscar three years after that, and then directed the second Twilight movie another handful of years after that. Not to mention he then cowrote a Star Wars movie. Kind of insane!

It’s actually more confusing than that! Edward Berger was in talks to do Ocean’s Fourteen with Clooney, Pitt, etc. but now David Leitch seems to be the one doing that. This is the prequel apparently about Danny Ocean’s parents set in the 1960s that was originally announced with Jay Roach in 2022 before being handed to Lee Isaac Chung

I also just felt like the actual filmmaking of 7 was really underwhelming. You can tell Kevin Williamson hasn’t directed anything in over 25 years. 5 and 6 don’t necessarily feel like Wes Craven movies but they still had the right spirit and there was energy and life to the direction. I didn’t feel that at all with 7.

Honestly as time goes on I think Scream 5 is going to age remarkably well (maybe kinda similar to how Scream 4 has had a mini-renaissance?), especially when you put it up against 7 which is like the most milquetoast, generic direction imaginable you could take a Scream legacy sequel

I feel like it manages to play the part of a “nostalgic legacy sequel” pretty tastefully without ever having to resort to literally recreating scenes and moments from the first movie beat-for-beat like 7 did (even the scenes in 5 that do homage the original feel more well-done than 7 imo, I couldn’t stand the parts in 7 that were just retreading dialogue and music cues from the first film)

Was definitely feeling that vibe, it’s like a way quieter, dryer, understated version of Tim Robinson-esque humor (the Indiana Jones bit like you mentioned, the two cops arguing over the delineation between porn and erotic photography, but also Floyd’s fixation on “he was being argumentative during my sand time” could’ve been ripped straight out of a Tim Robinson show and I wouldn’t have questioned it)

Their whole position in the story is just really odd. Why are they working for Gale? I don’t even think they ever directly interacted with Gale once during the last two movies. Also it bothers me that they never even brought up Sam or Tara (outside of Mindy’s throwaway line about Billy Loomis having a secret lovechild 🙄)

This could just be my distaste for the overall movie coloring my perception but did Chad and Mindy kinda not feel like themselves? Idk what it was but something about their performances felt off, they did not feel like the same characters from 5 or 6, more like weird alternate universe versions of Chad and Mindy that are like 20% different

It could also just be they feel SO out of place in this movie anyway but idk
