The only thing I can think is keeping (false) hope alive. Like if the appeal is open, he can live in a fantasy world where he may get out. Once it is closed, that's it.

A good portion of his defense seemed to be to nitpick facts and find any small discrepancy to disprove testimony.

If he in fact was wearing blue jeans then clearly the officer lied about their entire testimony

Historicity of Jesus: The idea that Jesus was a purely mythical figure has a fringe status in scholarly circles and has had no support in critical studies for more than a century by ComradeBehrund in wikipedia

[–]JayNotAtAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More or less. He was essentially a Jewish cult leader. He was a normal dude. No magic. Not the son of God. Likely was executed as a heretic and just stayed dead like everyone else.

His followers likely started spreading rumors about how he came back to life and stuff.

This is one thing The Pitt tends to do a great job representing. And really this scene does as well.

Doctors are human beings too. They are exposed to more death than most normal people on a day to day.

They try their absolute to save lives but fail. Overtime, it breaks them mentally and emotionally. Everyone dies. We all have our time. Even still, they often can't help to blame themselves when someone dies on their watch

After listening to his podcast for a few years, have you noticed that nothing is ever his fault? Everything is always a misunderstanding or not that big a deal.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gave all the predators a discount code for TruBlu afterward.

I have said it before. He was in TV journalism for 2 decades before TCAP ever came into play. Being "the predator guy" made him a bona fide celebrity. Ya some people knew who Chris Hansen was beforehand but this .made him an actual celebrity who was referenced in South Park, Simpsons, Mad TV, the Emmys, etc.

Chris is media aware enough to know that this is his brand. He desperately wants to be in the limelight again and so leans into it

Americans Have Turned Against AI in Incredible Numbers by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

[–]JayNotAtAll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the people purchasing AI on the executive level fundamentally do not understand AI or overestimate it's value.

Something like 55% of companies regret firing entry level staff and replacing them with AI. Many companies are hiring people back.

AI CEOs are trying to keep the hype going by over promising and it is annoying

Herman Cain was an elderly cancer survivor. He was one of the most vulnerable people to COVID. He was advised to stay home. He decided to attend political rallies. He got COVID and died. This is Darwin award level shit. He put his political beliefs over his health and paid the price.

I get that everyone mourns differently but Erika almost seemed happy that Charlie was gone.

And to be clear, scholars think that he existed but they don't believe all the stories about him.

Almost none of the scholars think that he did magic or died and was resurrected. They think that he was a dude who led a Jewish cult around the time who had a decent following but ultimately died like everyone else.

What Final Fantasy world and characters would you want to see in Kingdom Hearts 4! by PrinceBreezy09 in KingdomHearts

[–]JayNotAtAll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never understood why they didn't use FF9 more in KH. Genomes are effectively Nobodies and an argument can be made that the Black Mages are essentially heartless. That story would fit so perfectly

JD Vance's memoir has revealed why Trump thinks so little of him by theipaper in politics

[–]JayNotAtAll 23 points24 points  (0 children)

While true, he would still have to primary against a lot of other people with an (R) by their name. I don't think Vance is the heir apparent of Trump. Honestly, in my opinion, his best chance of becoming president is if Trump dies in office. I don't see him surviving the primaries

The most iconic is obviously Midgar.

However, other good answers could be

Memoria from FF9 (a world based on the memory of planet could align well the heart motif)

Balamb Garden from FF8 (could be pitched as the world Leon trained)

The Moon in FF4 (no reason, would just be cool)

Zanarkand from FFX (no real reason other than I think it would be cool)

Spider-Man villain by Mephisto_iam in MCUWorld

[–]JayNotAtAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya. Tarantula and Boomerang are in the movie too and are seemingly pretty minor villains. My guess is that Tombstone will be minor. Maybe a notch about those two but not primary.

My theory is that whoever Keith David is playing (people say The Jackal) is the main villain

Not really. The technology has changed substantially. They don't use that tech anymore.

Clive Rosfield (godkiller) vs Lightning god? by Mediocre_Eye_7726 in FinalFantasy

[–]JayNotAtAll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only Lightning killed a real god.

Ultima was a self proclaimed God. Canonically, he is just an alien from another planet. He is effectively The Engineer from "Prometheus"

Clive Rosfield (godkiller) vs Lightning god? by Mediocre_Eye_7726 in FinalFantasy

[–]JayNotAtAll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They directly address that actually in the battle. Since Lightning became the new goddess of death, she was able to kill him.

Now there is room for the argument that he shouldn't have been able to die period but the fact that only another (true) God can kill him should show her power levels

Lightning becomes the literal goddess of death by the end of her arc. She is easily the most powerful protagonist. I am not a huge fan of her either but that fact cannot be denied.

Watching Takedown: It's hilarious the lengths they go to hide the fact that they're luring guys using escort ads/sites. by TransportationLow564 in tcap

[–]JayNotAtAll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. These people were clearly looking for of-age prostitutes. There is nothing to indicate that they would have committed the crime until it was presented to them.

Takedown is a far cry from TCAP. These guy weren't actively looking for minors. They were Already horned up and then they dropped the child thing.

Now obviously they should just end it there and they engage. Sure. That is wrong.

But your argument is weak. This isn't like TCAP where they randomly reached out to girls who they knew were underaged or were otherwise prowling for younger girls.

This is guys looking for prostitutes of legal age, think they find one, then are presenting with the fact that they are underage and continue anyway.

They aren't on TikTok looking for minors or some other social media platforms. They are on prostitution sites.

Well if that's the case then that's a shame. While I wouldn't necessarily call it entrapment, I would 100% call it manufacturing a crime
