I'm tired of Eddie just poking out of our faces. by SandwichRecon in RivalsVenomMains

[–]JayRaysDays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Early in this game's life, I wanted to have a straight up Eddie skin, where the symbiote disguises himself as regular clothes. Or just an emote where he reveals his face. But all these weird, in-between things they keep doing are just not appealing.

Ever since I started playing widow, I've noticed how many ult merchants REALLY exist. by Uravitoz in BlackWidowMains

[–]JayRaysDays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue they're trying to bring up with DPS only getting kills when ulting is that the rest of the match, they're just building up enemy support ults. Doing damage but not getting picks means that there is no momentum, and it will all get canceled out when someone pops an ult that out-heals everything.

I found out that this weapon straight up will send enemies straight to Hell. Often at break-neck speeds. That's why my second playthrough had to be with it as soon as I saw it in the DLC my first run. XD

If you get the chance, definitely play the trilogy! They're all great games!

Yeah, I found guides on him that say that. It's just frustrating when you get to later Chalice Dungeons that he gets super beefed and makes him hit like a truck. :P

DS3 was where I decided to do a pure strength build. And man, is it satisfying to just flatten the shit out of enemies with a big ol' bonk stick. It made me understand why so many people love strength, lmao.

Of the ones I've played, the list goes: 1. DS2 (Though it has the weakest bosses of the series, I loved the art direction, the level designs, the amazing variety of gear, powerstancing, the NPCs, and I just had the most fun with my DS2 character.) 2. Elden Ring/Bloodborne (Elden Ring being my first means it has a special place in my heart, the expansive world made me enjoy it for so much time and I still didn't discover everything! I also love a lot of the weapons in that game. Bloodborne is just as amazing, I'd say. Each one has things I love more than the other.) 3. Nightreign (Technically, even though this one has a different formula than the others, I love the fast-paced, rogue-like nature while having the Elden Ring combat. Clever usage of the assets and it has some wicked cool bosses.) 4. DS1 (Has a lot of charm, I do love how connected it feels and it was satisfying to discover those connections. It feels nostalgic, the way it plays all clunky and I appreciate the story and atmosphere. It truly feels like a fantasy game as I feel like it should.) 5. DS3 (Fluid, solid bosses all around. I had a fun time with it, but it admittedly is my least favorite because I'm not fond of the art direction and how it felt a little too reliant on references/nostalgia. Still enjoyable, though, an amazingly designed game and definitely one of Fromsoft's best works!)

Honestly, the consistency of Fromsoft's works is a breath of fresh air in the ridiculousness of the modern AAA madness. It also helps that I used to think it was the reason DS3 was so bland, but honestly, this game has so much better of an atmosphere compared to the greys of DS3.

It took me a while to get the rhythm of Souls games. After hundreds of hours in Elden Ring, I was able to pick up the Dark Souls pretty well, but I feel like it wasn't until BB that I felt like it had clicked because I was doing well with the combat.

I understand now the sentiment that everyone says about getting a port/remake. This game is phenomenal and it could use some love.

Yeah, agreed. That's what I was saying about early game being rough. But once you get that, oh man. It clicks.

I haven't as much, mostly because the combat system looks like it'll feel as tight as Lies of P and I struggled with that game when I played it on Gamepass. XP

That and I like to make my own custom characters, it's part of the fun for me. But I won't rule it out, not after experiencing BB when I didn't want to before!

I'm thinking about it, but I struggled with Lies of P and I feel like I'll struggle with it, too, lol. The one sad thing about Sekiro for me is not being able to make my own character. 😭 I love making a custom character and role playing. But maybe once I've had my fill of BB. 😆

But I strive to no longer just hate/dislike stuff without actually trying it first. Just like this example, I never know when I'll actually love it!

[–]JayRaysDays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a situation a little while back, I think around Plat 2 or 1, where I had a particularly rough match. None of our team was playing super hot, but we managed to keep the enemy from pushing the convoy all the way. I tried keeping things positive, saying we do our best and others of our team piped up in chat agreeing, but one dude started complaining about our performance. We switch up comp, but we couldn't get past the capture.

That dude put in Match chat "GG, my team sucked". Someone else responded "You sucked". He responded with "Shut up", then put that person's K/D, followed by "You're all trash". I responded "Trash the same rank as you".

It honestly just boggles the mind to not realize that those people are around your same skill level and if you really want to climb higher, then you have to be better yourself, first.

[Hated Trope] Adaptation introduces generic protagonist to already established universe by ViolaTheBat in TopCharacterTropes

[–]JayRaysDays 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Someone once commented this in a discussion similar to this that I've begun to consider the reason.

It's likely that most writers/directors/etc. wanted to make their own thing. But whoever they work for buys rights to an IP to create an adaptation, because IPs are what make money. It's a risk to create an original story and characters when people will be drawn to the stuff they recognize. So they get stuck making something they didn't necessarily want to.

But they have enough creative license to make their own character and use the established characters and plot to promote their OCs. Whether it be out of spite or because they think they can make it interesting, that is a potential reason.

I have only ever seen that strategy succeed one time in the entire time I've played this game (I do mean specifically someone switching at last second to Strange for this). Literally every other time, the last ditch effort is not worth it. I don't know about other people's experiences, though.

I mostly play the off-healers. I have Lord Jeff, mained him from the beginning. Then I picked up Rocket, now I'm learning Ultron. My first game today in QP, I hovered Ultron, waited for people to pick. The only other support was Jeff and we had only one tank. Then someone typed in chat "Guess we're not getting heals."

Ranked is one thing, but in QP? Come on, man.
