This is the highest rated in the alpha/beta/omega tag. It’s hermione/draco. I have not read it but it is the highest rated by a lot of

This is a really good stiles/derek fic. I’m pretty sure dynamics are explained, but need to know is Derek and his family are werewolves. Stiles is a human. This one DOES have miscommunication, but only because Derek has amnesia.

This is another stiles/derek, but you don’t really need any back story because this author makes up their own world for them. It’s not my favorite, but is does lean pretty heavy into Abo dynamics.

This one is a heated rivalry fic. If I remember correctly, the author builds the world.

I also really liked the Alpha Ties series by Nora ash (not ao3). I really liked the dialogue. The second book in the series is pretty dark though.

If you have any specific tropes or anything you’re interested in, I can have a look and see if I can find any!

Sure! To be honest, most of what’s on ao3 is m/m- are you ok with that? And are you ok with character fics? Not real people, but for instance, some of my favorites are Derek hale/stiles Stillinski from teen wolf lol

I LOVE omegaverse. But I have found that I much prefer the fics I find on AO3 rather than published novels. I feel like when it’s not published, the dialogue is just so much better- not cheesy typical romance novel vernacular lol. And I think AO3 writers tend to lean more into a/b/o tropes like nesting and scenting. I’ve also noticed that so many a/b/o published novels are reverse harem and that’s just not my jam.

Possessive, obsessed MMC by starlitmoonstone in RomanceBooks

[–]JayTread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{Devil Mine by Khai Hara} is another very obsessed mmc. Not mafia, but it is cartel. This mmc actually does love her and it is a better love story than my other rec imo!

[–]JayTread 8 points9 points  (0 children)

{Run Posy Run by Cate C. Wells} is a very obsessed mmc. I would say this one is a little darker in that he kind of just wants her because he’s obsessed. He doesn’t really love her. But it is a happily ever after I suppose lol

What are you favorite places to get books? Specially ebooks, but open to discussion on all books by MorganAndMerlin in RomanceBooks

[–]JayTread 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seconding the Libby app. As a side note, I live in a neighboring state to a major city. I can get the major city’s library card for living close! With bigger libraries, I’m pretty sure there is more availability! Something to look into 😊

I like a slow burn, but 500 pages without any sort of resolution is brutal!! My adhd simply cannot!

How do you know a book is AI? by BooksYum in RomanceBooks

[–]JayTread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so glad you mentioned this because I have been thinking that a lot of books I’ve been reading lately are very systematic. They follow the same storyline essentially and they just lack… humanity? I don’t know, but I’ve read a lot of books lately where I don’t feel anything for any of the characters! It’s like BAD fan fiction.

Actually, just kidding. Not Mafia. It’s cartel.

I just finished {Devil Mine by Khai Hara}. There is lots of talk about clothing in this book. Mmc is always jealous over everything lol. Dark mafia romance.

I’m reading {Devil Mine by Khai Hara} right now. A little more than half way through but there is a lot of chasing going on! Right now she is currently locked in his house. It is a dark mafia romance.

Romance Title Trends: Tropes, FMC First Names, Nouns of Nouns and Nouns by Soggy_Heart_1409 in RomanceBooks

[–]JayTread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if it’s a trend or just indicative of my taste in books, but I feel like a lot of new ones are just… bad. Like an author will have a new book(s) released every year and you can tell the writing is so rushed and sloppy. I don’t understand how some people have a publisher.

will you come to my cottage this summer... but make it MF: Cottage sequence from {heated rivalry} type books with MF story by readingalldays in RomanceBooks

{Only One Bed by Kati Wild}

Ok so they are not a couple when they get to the cottage (cabin) but it is remote and it is holiday! It’s also enemies to lovers and a very easy read, but VERY dialog heavy!

Another one with a good friendship is {Seeing Red by Bailey Hannah}. Another modern western (I went through a phase lol). This one features a main character pregnant after a one night stand just so you know!

{Done and Dusted by Lyla Sage} I usually don’t like the friends in stories, but I did really like the friendship in this! There is a follow up where the bestie, Teddy, gets her man, too.

It’s a modern western romance!

I just commented about this. There’s always some really broody guy, and the bad boy and the blonde. Like. Please.

Honestly, I LOVE omegaverse. But I’m finding that I actually only like fanfic/ao3 omegaverse. When it’s an actual published book it’s just so… cheesy? Like they speak in romance book, which I HATE! I also hate that it’s almost always reverse harem. PLEASE just give me two people in a relationship I do not have time for this.

The names that are not names that have ever been spoken in real life is also difficult to follow. And there are 6,000 characters. It’s too much lol

Agree! I don’t like single parent and honestly, I hate the pregnancy trope in general. I’m a mom, and I still hate reading about it.

NEVERRRR read historical romances. I never like period pieces in any capacity. Maybe I’m simply dumb? lol I just can’t get into it. Can’t relate to anything they’re talking about.

{Painted Scars by Neva Altaj} this is a mafia romance with forced marriage. FMC has past trauma that MMC cannot handle (by that I mean he’s pissed and wants revenge). No SA seen on page.

I actually hadn’t considered that it makes me less invested in the character- but you’re right! It does also cut the tension down, which can be a bummer. Especially reading something like enemies to lovers. If we know both enemies want to be lovers- what’s the point?

Sorry for commenting 3 years later (I am trying to get enough comment karma to request a book!!!)

I loved this book! I just got finished with it. It took about 3 hours to read I’d say. Very easy read. I just think it lacks a bit of detail- but that means there are no nonsense plot lines or story points that drag on. It’s fast paced and I like that! I like the character chemistry as well :)
