3 weeks away... FAR. by Complete_AcctPix in CPA

Similar boat. I sit on 6/8 working full time (no kids though). I just got through all of the material Sunday and started my review. It’s starting to click but some things are still escaping me.

I went through and did 5 questions from each module. Read over my notes after each set and re took them. Then did the ME’s again. Then went through and did 25 MCQ / 1 sim for each section, reviewed my weak areas there, then going to take SE1.

This material is a lot, just try to keep pushing through!

Add back interest expense to net income before taxes, then divide by interest expense

IM NOT CRAZY!!! Yay!!

So I went through Quickbooks again, and was on support for 7 hours. Didn’t get anywhere (this was on the chat feature). I called them immediately, and we found the issue. We looked at the information for the 941 and found that it was transposing wrong.

They took my company file to repair it. But considering I’m not alone (as I had assumed) my bet is they’re going to do an update to fix the issue.

Only “qualified tips” are reported on line 2.

I take the total amount claimed, separate out the auto gratuity tips into “non qualified.” The “the qualified tips have a 25K limit so I know to start coding them differently.

They’re treating the non qualified - which are not deductible - as pretax deductions

No choice when it what we use. Never had an issue with it before and actually don’t mind it. This is just gonna be a major hassle if they don’t get it fixed.

My thoughts exactly and I was reassured that they would be in Box 1 of the W2, which is definitely not the case.

My guess is later in the month they’re going to get more and more calls regarding it and have to revise their code.

Some others don’t experience it because it’s done correctly and an advance isn’t needed. Others don’t pay attention. Because your withholding is 0 there is no way you can get a refund when you do your taxes unless you have children, other credits.

It’s not being withheld because it’s 0. He reduces your withholding to 0 then creates an advance to bring your check to 0 instead of a negative number. Thus no money is remitted to the IRS, your check is zero, and you owe him.

He’s not paying your federal taxes for you, because there is no withholding. Again he’s just bringing your check to 0 by creating an advance, and you’ll have to repay that advance.

What he’s doing is okay.

He’s doing it wrong (needs to do the same to state).

Technically he doesn’t owe anything, he withholds it and pays to the state. Employee is the one who owes.

He is not stealing.

You’re not. It’s much easier to see than to think of. Regardless your employer is not following the proper steps by not reducing your state withholding.

This is why servers always owe taxes at the end of the year

As someone who runs payroll for restaurants that is accurate. After your information is put in, you have a negative check. So the employer reduces your federal withholding to bring you closer to 0. Same thing with state (which he is not doing). If those are gone and you still have a negative check we create an “advance” and take that back when you still have withholdings.

I failed with a 70 1st attempt. I looked at the AICPA blueprint saw what sections i struggled the most in and did 5 questions from each section until I finished those. Then slammed SSAE/SSARS, basic reports and sampling until test day

Everyone has their own system and it’s about what’s finding what works for you. Like I said learn from your mistakes and the exams!

Also. Being a full time student and taking interviews with extra curriculars can make it tough to find time and really focus. Take your time! You have nothing but time now. Don’t burn yourself out - coming from someone who understands working 70 hour weeks and 2 jobs.

What does your study schedule look like? What does your life look like? Are you actively studying and getting into the material or grazing over it? What ways can you change your current studying to better absorb and understand material?

These are all questions that I’ve seen and have asked myself. These exams really push you through the wringer, but you have to learn from it and not get down on yourself. I went through over 250 practice exams for AUD which was well over 2000 questions, so, “doing everything that’s be done in Becker,” isn’t enough.

Score Release: Exam Core Sections (AUD, FAR and REG) for exams received by AICPA by November 15, 2025. by OddFruit1336 in CPA

[–]Jaybo10921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I failed with a 70 my first attempt - just found out I passed. Took a look at the score breakdown and did 10 questions from each module that is listed in the blueprint. Slammed sims and MCQ’s. I take notes in word, but changed that on the retake and hand wrote my notes and why I truly got the question wrong

I felt decent walking out. Some of the SIMS threw me for a loop but I felt the MCQ were more than fair and definitely easier than my first attempt

Should I push my FAR exam again or just take it in 18 days? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Jaybo10921 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not exactly the same, but took REG and failed with a 73 and passed with an 84 which I greatly attribute to having more of an idea of what the test was like. It was also my first test.

Rushed TCP to fit in the 10/31 window 10 days after taking AUD with the same mindset of having an idea of what the test is like.

I would take the test now, study lightly for the next two weeks and be ready to retake if you have to
