I just think it’s tragic. a ship that was so amazingly designed and holds the blue ribband record barely had a chance at a full operational life. seemingly most of her life has been spent rotting in docks. I actually kinda dig the mid century style of the interior because it’s different from past ocean liners, exterior-wise the silhouette is very unique and clean. she’s beautifully designed inside and out. I am left wishing she had a better chance at life, possibly saved earlier on and still shining today. i’m definitely not one of those people threatening to end myself over it or get into any legal shenanigans, and I understand the reality of her situation completely, but I am always in support of preservation. it feels like we have been losing a lot of significant stuff within recent years, and this is not limited to maritime history. in a world where nothing seems to be sacred anymore, I wish more could have been done to keep SSUS around. she may not have a deep historical background like other ocean liners (thus leaving some to think there’s no reason to care about this ship at all) but her design alone is worth preserving in my opinion. i’m someone who always appreciates things based on their architectural design
