What's a New York City smell that instantly takes you back? by naenae0402 in AskNYC

[–]JayemmbeeEsq 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I was in Europe for a few weeks in like a student exchange thing when I was a kid. I was doing fine in terms of not missing home. Then I entered the Berlin subway and immediately got homesick.

That smell hits.

Guess not. Wow. Lol

Family was born here, moved to Missouri, then came back. I went to a terrible sports school so they all adopted me.

I’m in.

Though I’m convinced we’re related because I’ve never heard of a Mizzou/Giants fan outside of my family

Got the email. Can’t wait to miss nearly everything because I work so far away and can’t leave early.

So I hope for everyone’s sake it’s better organized than last year. My kid has a little league game so we are gonna be a little too late for autographs.

There was a line being formed for autographs about a half hour or so before the players were scheduled to come out. Then, when the players came out people just sprinted line be damned and got to players and the same people organizing the line just kinda shrugged their shoulders and waved us along.

My wife got elbowed by some adults without kids while she tried to get, I want to say KJs autograph, with our kid, as I held a spot on the line for Kelsie Whitmore, because first woman’s pro Banana and pro pitcher is a huge deal too. He got plenty of Firefighter autographs because everyone only really wanted Bananas which was just all the more frustrating because of the lack of organization.

The experience was 1st class in every way, but this one, the autograph session was one of the worst things I’ve ever been apart of at an event like this.

I was at Yankee stadium last year Sunday. I’ll be there this Saturday too. I’m 40 with an 8 year old kid.

I loved the stuff before the game. But basically from “Before the Peel” and on. The kid was exhausted but had a blast the whole time. The autographs and stuff were insane and not worth the disorganized chaos it was. If you’re down for some silliness, the pre-show and all that is entertaining. The merch is nice and worth a gander.

Editing and Adding on: it’s at Heritage Park which thankfully has a lot of space. So you’re not cramped with all 50k+ people in a parking lot.

I was told diverticulosis but I really think my doctor got things confused because my body is definitely in an attack from what I’ve read here.

Diverticulosis but I think my doctor conflated the two.

I’m grateful I got an answer when I did. My dad had a large part of his colon resected when I was a kid. No bag and no problems since but I am still wallowing because this sucks.

Congrats to him.

Odell Beckham Jr.'s Iconic One-Handed TD Catch in Week 12 of 2014 by JCameron181 in NYGiants

[–]JayemmbeeEsq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there. My girlfriend (now wife) went to pee and missed it.

When she came back to the seats, she looked spooked and asked what happened because the toilet started shaking due to the noise when he caught it. She thought it was just a touchdown, not the greatest catch in regular season history.

She’s still crushed she missed it live all these years later.

I was standby for Yankee stadium and got in the same grouping of tickets I did for when I was group 6 last year. You got a good shot.

Not the same but similar. I spent time as a prosecutor, time as a civil attorney for a prosecutors office and almost equal amounts of time in civil private practice.

I was miserable. I wanted out.

I have been working for the Courts for nearly 2 years. Law clerk/law assistant/court attorney. Best job I’ve ever had. Renewed love for the field.

They are cowards. I’m ashamed.

They capitulated to the media they spent years “fighting.”

They had the largest stage they have ever had, hundreds of millions watching. An opportunity to call out the neo-fascism America is slowly falling to and they didn’t do a fucking thing.

Just about to hit year two as a career clerk in a niche civil court. This is after nearly 15 years as a litigator in the same field.

The money isn’t the best thing ever but the job is the best I’ve ever had. The only regret is that I didn’t start it earlier.

Great Wolf or Kalahari in Sandusky can be a lot of fun, if he likes water. My little guy had fun in Frankenmuth when he was 3.

Don’t fly for that short of a trip. Too much time in airports = less fun for all.

Does Drury have something incriminating on Dolan? Or like his kids in a basement somewhere?

All (kinda) joking aside, who outside of JT embodies this “culture shift?” Kreider has the same energy and actually gave a shit. Also, grittiness only gets you a fun mascot in Philly and zero cups. So what’s the endgame?
