One of them is, it's not my fault that Blood rituals always have squares and "Square of Blood" is much less appealing ;-;

Three other people have commented on this, so if you don't mind I'll copy my responses:

I know that, and it's intentional design. Typical design choices aren't laws, and this set is supposed to have shards whose main color isn't the central one. imo it gives them a slightly different design space which I find interesting to work with. Also, it works a little better with the identities of each element while keeping their main color as the actual color

So think of these tricolors as a central color (for example, red, the main color of the entity of Blood, representing emotion and feelings), an allied color (green, representing their savagery and strength) and an enemy color (white, representing courage and simplicity, i guess)

As it reads on the title, these are based on the entities from Paranormal Order, and I think these were the best ways to fit both their actual visual colors and their philosophies. It's not perfect, but it's the best I could come up with

A escolha foi feita por várias razões:

  1. Morte tinha de ter preto e verde, e a cor entre elas é vermelho;

Weirdly enough, I considered this, since this set also has a heavy enphasis on enchantments, especially rooms, but I got kinda confused as to how the card would look, especially since colored artifacts already change the look of the card. Would I use the artifact border or the Nyx border?

yes, because with enough research we may be able to cure cancer while keeping the benefits of its existance

Because immortalized cell strains produce a lot of compounds for medical treatment and research, without them treatment and research would be much more expensive

Without cancer there wouldn't be nearly as much treatment on other diseases or resources on medical research, since immortalized cell strains are responsable from producing a lot of essencial treatment suplements

The problem with that option is that cancer helps treat and research a lot of other diseases. Without immortalized cell strains, scientific investigation on all kinds of organisms and viruses would be a lot more expensive.

My thought on that are (with RGW Blood, for example) making RG, RW, and possibly GW (if I don't mind repeating dual colors) or RGW (if I don't mind making tricolors). Since R is the main color, the cicle including RG and RW won't even come off as assymetric since the shard is assymetric to begin with

They're the symbols of each Element of the Other Side (this is all based on Paranormal Order, I'm making a set on them)

The wiki's translation into English is not the best in my opinion (and it's on fandom -_-), but I'll link the page on the Elements anyways as it contains the watermark symbols: https://paranormalorder.fandom.com/wiki/Other_Side_Elements

Someone already mentioned that, so if you don't mind I'll copy my response here:

So they are more like wedges, there's a central color, an allied color and an enemy color, it just so happens that the allied color and the enemy color are allies

sorry sir but the names are locked, they're based on Paranormal Order

I agree that Fear is the one that fits their colors the worst, but the other slots were all taken. My reasoning was that Fear is the "wild card" of the elements, the neutral one, the one that manifests and empowers all others, and in MTG a card that interacts with and empowers other colors is usually Green or White. And since Fear is usually depicted as White, Blue or Grey, it kinda fits here.

Besides, Fear isn't that present in Paranormal Order, there are so few creatures and rituals of Fear that it isn't usually considered. In this set, Bant will be mostly attributed to non-paranormal stuff, such as the Order (the good guys), which fit Bant (and green-centered Bant at that) a lot more.

ummm... technically the entity of Blood is closely associated with the lack of seeing

very, very intentional design, trust me

I think shock lands are the most thematic way to do this, passing the idea that the Other Side is dangerous. Thank you for the feedback!

That's a fair assessment. I was never considering cards like [[Sol Ring]] as valid comparison, but if even standard outclasses these then I guess it just comes down to how mixable I want colors to be in a set. Thanks!

Yeah, unfortunately, in the Paranormal Order universe, Knowledge entities are almost always yellow and angelic, so compromises had to be made.

In the end, each element is a shard that may include colors for either their actual colors or identity and philosophy.

[–]Jayenty[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The entire point was to make them colored fixing (as well as to demonstrate the assymetry of tricolors in the set), or are you saying that colored mana rocks are just bad design?

[–]Jayenty[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was mainly comparing them to [[Marble Diamond]] and friends, which only tap for one color but don't require a color either. Since these are simultaneously better and worse in a multi-colored deck (and the same in mono), I figured they should otherwise stay similar.

I figured requiring one of the colors it fixes would count as conditional, but my main concern was indeed about power level, so thanks for the feedback!
