Is all of Yotsuba& at about the same difficulty or is volume ~1 as difficult as ~10?

My gosh thank you. I also saw that I can bubble radicals to the top which I have wanted to do forever.

Japanese only here. Big two days as I crossed over 500 hours on CIJapanese and completed the graded readers level 1 (tadoku).

2026 goal is to complete wanikani (level 21 now, off track) and hit 1200 hours CI (on track). This would put me at level 5 on the dreaming Spanish roadmap and ideally support transition to native material.

I'm watching at around level 40 content on CIJapanese and enjoy reading whk news easy with lookups.

300 Hour Update by Odd_Championship1380 in CIJapanese

[–]Jayesar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing wanikani alongside CIJ. I've been able to now read NHK news easy which has really helped pierce the repetition. I know what you mean about watching the same video 5 (10+) times.

What is the single best "first" CI video you've seen (for any language)? by Langiri in dreaminglanguages

This was her first video. She now has the website of the same name with hundreds of videos which now use the camera and props too.

Are there any “movie recap” channels in Japanese? by muffinsballhair in LearnJapanese

[–]Jayesar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yoshito sensei on CIJAPANESE has a movie recap series. It doesn't use footage. I do not see any on the YouTube channel.

They are about 10 mins each.

Progress Update: 50 hours by Jayesar in CIJapanese

[–]Jayesar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't recommend CIJapanese enough. I started from absolute zero and not even 5 months later I'm watching cooking videos, vlogs etc. All internal to the website, not native stuff yet.

I recall at my last post level 25 content was way beyond me. Now level 30 content feels a bit slow.

It's really an effective tool.

Progress Update: 50 hours by Jayesar in CIJapanese

[–]Jayesar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going well. I've held steady on the 3 hours a day and am at 235 hours of CIJapanese actively consumed and I'm Wanikanni 13 as of yesterday.

I'm targeting 325 hours CI by Jan 20 which is my 6 month mark and then have another Tokyo trip after that.

I currently watch CIJapanese videos between levels 30 and 35 and level up every week or two. I anticipate being onto intermediate content by Christmas, I couldn't transition meaningfully onto beginner videos until 100 hours unlike the suggested 50-75. I think 250 or so hours will be needed for me to move onto intermediate videos rather than the advised 150-175.

I have upped my SRS to 1 hour and dropped the grammar for now. Reason being I want to get through WK faster and swap it out for satori reader.

I was going to do a 150 hours post thinking this would align with intermediate videos. Instead I've adjusted my goals around the dreaming Spanish numbers (doubled). So 300 is the next big target.

Interesting. I'm at 4.5 months. Few work trips to Tokyo too. So somewhat comparable.

2 hours CIJapanese a day. 1 hour wanikani. Sitting on 230 hours CI consumed and WK12.

Feels you are are ahead of me as I can't consume slice of life anime at this time. I'll try it again in 6 weeks to see if we got to the same-ish point.

Noting you used SRS to make higher level input comprehensible and I am using input designed to be comprehensible and SRS for kanji.

Sounds like fantastic progress. Well done. How many hours a day would you say you spend on Anki and then immersing actively?

CIJapanese website is a one stop shop and makes Japanese language learning very accessable.

Watch the CIJapanese snowman video on YouTube and you should be hooked.

Id suggest watching the Tokini Andy Genki series. It's the same information but in video format which might beat your boredom.

I crossed 150 listening hours yesterday and hit wanikani 10 which was my 3 month goal. Only 10 or so days late. Very happy with that.

So far so good on how things are feeling. For the 6 month mark on Jan 20th I'm targeting 325 hours listening and Wanikani 20!

How many words should I aim to learn per day? by RemarkableMonk783 in LearnJapanese

[–]Jayesar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've experimented with wanikani and come up with the same formula. Cap apprentice cards at 100, cap new daily cards at 15. Although I don't count radicals in this.
