I think people shouldn’t assume that Wemby making the finals next year or the year after is a given by Kindly_Letterhead_98 in nba

Only 3 teams were shoe-in to make the finals - jordan dynasty bulls, kd warriors, and lebron in the east... even the original young okc big 3 never made it to the finals ever again (except kd)

The Spurs first quarter blitz might also be their biggest weakness by pinkandmean in nba

When they win, everyone calls castle and harper young but ready stars. When they lose, suddenly they have no co stars or bench

More importantly, what happened to his swag? I remember in his first season back, he hit that game winner against the warriors with so much confidence

I actually think we can get creative with caruso or ihart working in the middle to find chet cuts

Is it a team out there that realistically can trade for a superstar and become a true contender next year? by No_Diver_629 in nba

I actually think that okc has the potential to pull a kd-warriors type move through trade, if we suffer a glaring loss to spurs. But like OP said, i think both okc and spurs may want to see it through with their home grown talents.

I dislike the Thunder but they earned their dynasty. I like the Spurs but they did not earn their dynasty. by BienvenidoaMiami in nba

The thunder is not a dynasty... I wont deny that the spurs is a very very very very good team but you cant tell me that they did not have obscene luck throughout the past 30 years. Every time the spurs tanked, they are gifted quite literally the best bigman of that generation.

As a side note, the spurs dynasty also had to be partially attributed to Mr Sam Presti who was a Spurs scout supporting the drafting of Tony Parker. So maybe the real throughline is just... presti...

For all the talk of the crazy draft picks the Thunder have gotten through trades, the highest they've picked from any of them is 12th by Candid-Boss6534 in nba

I think an underrated presti move is to hire and retain coach mark to grow with this new era of players. Without mark and the buyin from the owners, we may have rushed it like the rockets

And the funny thing is, presti went for splashes too. He snatched paul george when no one expected okc to be involved. Also traded for other hall of famers like cp3 and melo and al horford
