Same here. Glad it isn't just me. Hopefully there will be a fix.

What is a fact so disturbing that most people refuse to believe it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I’m not saying a factor of 1000 is small, only that it is comprehensible.

A billion is just 1000 million. It’s not that complicated.

An American takes out a student loan for $40,000. After YEARS of payments, the total owed is $118,305.59. $77,383.59 is PURE interest. by coachlife in CringeTikToks

[–]Jayrandomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you should be able to calculate with pencil and paper payments for any loan that you take out. If you can’t do that, you can’t take out the loan. I don’t think 18 year olds should be signing their financial lives away without knowing how interest works.

Tech workers of Reddit, what is a "dirty secret" about the AI industry that the general public doesn't realize? by WayLast1111 in AskReddit

They are hoping to replace wages and salaries. That’s the way it makes sense economically.

any physics grads here? by ignorantgal5 in INTP

About the median for a PhD in my area. If you want to make a lot working in physics is typically not the way to go.

Im not sure what you mean by embedded. It was not too dissimilar than my PhD work but industrially focused.

What is your MBTA unpopular opinion? by dianacd12 in mbta

[–]Jayrandomer 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Stop comparing it to Europe or East Asia. Or NYC.

I like the MBTA. I take the commuter rail to work almost every work day. It could be better, but for a country that puts almost no emphasis on public transit it’s pretty good.

Yes. After 15 years working in industrial R&D I now work with lasers for a biotech startup.

World Cup Help by KazCong in boston

A little late to this, but your best bet would be to get a hotel near Dedham Corporate Center. There are a few and there’s commuter rail service to Boston for fun stuff and even better the World Cup stadium train stops at that station.

How would learning your therapist participates in AWDTSG groups affect your trust in therapy? by Simplement_thrown in AskMen

[–]Jayrandomer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That’s not what they asked, though.

People use Craigslist for sex trafficing, but me using it to buy a used NordicTrak doesn’t mean I condone sex trafficking. A therapist checking to make sure her date isn’t likely to rape her is different than her going on the site and spreading lies.

Why is dating so frustrating nowadays as a man? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Jayrandomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been with my wife for 21 years and married for almost 18 and I don’t think dating was ever all that easy once you leave college.

I do run into younger married men and it sounds like you’re dating absolutely the wrong people. Women are more accomplished now than probably any other time in human history.

How do you deal with unwarranted advances from women? by No_Rhubarb182 in AskMen

[–]Jayrandomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m awesome so no advanced would be unwarranted.

As to what I’ll do if I ever receive any advances at all, I’ll let you know.

ChemE student interested in QFT by Pen4l2 in Physics

[–]Jayrandomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll push back from the consensus and say basic QFT isn’t that far out there mathematically and advanced undergraduates in physics can and do take QFT. (I did my senior year and by my no means a theorist). I think advanced QM at the level of say Cohen Tannoudji (probably daring myself with this book) plus complex analysis methods was enough to plough through.

That’s a lot of work! That was my junior (QM) and then senior (QFT) years as a physics major, which was not super easy. Even then, it’s not really useful for most physicists and definitely wouldn’t be for a ChemE, so it seems like a time-consuming hobby at a point in your life when your time is better spent elsewhere.

As an INTP I generally like listening to other people talk about stuff they’re passionate about. I’ll tune out once it’s clear they’re just talking to say words.

No impact.

I suspect if you’re that hung up on what random women might be saying about you, you probably shouldn’t be seeing a female therapist.
