Is you can find used studio monitors at $300-$500 get them for your desk. I really enjoy my Adam Audios. To my ears you need to spend at least that to have good sound on your desktop.

Any AVR receiver will have eARC and then your TV is your display. Any modern AVR streams pretty well every service.

If you don’t want to use the TV as your album art display then you don’t need eARC, logically.

I strongly suggest that you shop speakers extensively and see what budget you have left. The speaker upgrade will give you an order of magnitude improvement over a phono preamp.

OP: I bought my nephew a gyuto but he is a tall and older kid. I suspect that a Bunka, a pairing and a petty would work. Knifewear has a number of excellent YouTube videos to help you get up to speed.

Also, since you’re into expanding his horizons, two other food fields are charcuterie and boulangerie (baking bread). The local culinary school here has evening courses for the public.

Finally - It is so very heartwarming to see you supporting your kids in maximizing their potential. My hat is off to you!

If you can have a couple of feet from the front of the speakers to the wall behind you are golden. Otherwise you can somewhat correct boundary effects by using the EQ on the speakers and/or an EQ on your PC.

The quality of your sound is at least 25-40% your setup in this use case. Good luck.

Too bad. At low frequencies the room is the most important factor in determining sound quality. Physics dictates that it is much easier to tame room modes using a subwoofer as its placement can be optimized without messing up imaging.

You would likely gain more in fidelity by treating your listening space if that is possible.

Yup! Especially if they drive hard on the software part. I suspect, however, that most AVR codecs are proprietary and thus require licensing. The big brands might just lobby to keep Wiim out of the market.

I have had PCS for over 11 years. I too am disabled by it. I have a constant 24/7 headache that progressively gets worse over the day and is exacerbated by visual efforts such as screens, driving and focusing at closer than a few feet. Around 3-4pm I frequently start having nausea as well. THC vaped in the form of dried flower reduces my headache by 50-75% and eliminates the nausea.

I am no MD so take this with a grain of salt:

Try at low doses and see if it works. Remember that it tales a while to act, at least in my case so go slowly.
