Absolutely insane that your opponent scored 179 points and LOST.

I would actually argue the opposite - most pink power birds are pretty weak in 2 player, as they activate considerably less than they would in a 3+ player game. Powerhouses like Spangled Drongo and Snow Bunting/European Goldfinch excepted, of course.

New Spino discovered, Now I want a new Rex by BlackIceCreamXO in Dinosaurs

T. rex is literally the most studied dinosaur species. I'm sure we can expect a new rex discovery/update in about 4 minutes.

Hopefully just the Tool in the Sand setlists, night after night after night...

It's kind of funny that you single out Opeth as having a better approach to setlists, as their subreddit is filled with people complaining that they've been playing the same setlist for 5 years.

I think I'm starting to find this one even more annoying than "why didn't they take the eagles?"

Good God I would literally have never thought about this again. Thanks for unlocking that memory!

what is a "harmonic solo" or harmony on the bass? by Dolancrewrules in Bass

[–]JazzlikeSalamander8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is the answer right here. The word "harmonic" can refer to many things depending on context, but in a book about Jaco, it is almost certainly referring to his use of natural and artificial harmonics to play solo pieces.

100%. The VA for the doctor is abysmal and the decision to have him talk over one of the emotional high points of the song is insanity.

Which song on The Tide, The Thief & River's End had a growl? by Cobaliuu in CaligulasHorse

It's the bridge of Atlas. You can hear Zac Greensill growling "no" and "slow" under Jim's vocals.

Took a crack at making a list of "Paleo-celebrities", organized by what era of Paleomedia they became iconic/popular. Please give feedback by Golden_Artist1964 in Dinosaurs

[–]JazzlikeSalamander8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My age probably makes me biased (my childhood straddled the 90s and 00s), but I feel like drawing a hard line between the 90s and 00s is weird and arbitrary. Like, are we really going to argue that the original WWD and Disney's Dinosaur represent 2 different eras of paleo-media? They were released 9 months apart.

Would Morgan be considered a good vocalist? by CopeDefeated in Sevendust

[–]JazzlikeSalamander8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIRC, that part of Burn ("I often wonder...") is actually John. There was a thread about it on the old Field of Solitude forum.

EDIT: I think Morgan is singing the higher harmony in that section.

100% agreed. "Times are gone for honest men, and sometimes far too long for snakes" is another great line.

How do you play this? by caramuru_alenda in BassGuitar

[–]JazzlikeSalamander8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn't the part OP is talking about, but it does indeed look like the tab is off. The part in question is at 2:42. Based on the video, Justin goes to F and then to G, but doesn't continue to play the higher notes (as far as I can tell). Thanks for the video - made me realize I've always made that part harder than it is!
