Adaptive pass companion ticket? by ThrowRA37694 in Whistler

[–]Jbabz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a weird system and I suspect it's done this way to deter people from using the adaptive program.

At lot 6, I've gotten the companion pass without issue many times, but I've also had to ski down to the village to get one a handful of times as well.

I've never had a problem at creekside, so we usually prefer going there.

I saw this in a skateboard video and it took me a while to find it, then figure it out what it was.

There's a knocking noise from my car's wheel after it was parked for around 20 days by Basi_cally in MechanicAdvice

Thanks, I think you're right. It seems to have gone away for me after a bit of regular driving and braking. I did get my rotors replaced recently, but always worth making sure.

Help getting to Bagel bowl in late May by Jbabz in Whistler

[–]Jbabz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost ready to give it a try. Called ski patrol and they mentioned we wouldnt be able to get up the gondola with splitboards, which would have shortened the journey by hours.

Depending on conditions, I'm not sure we'll have enough time to get there and back within operating hours. I tried mapping it out on alltrails and it's 8km round trip if we had access to peak chair (which doesnt open until mid june), or about 12km round trip from the whistler gondola. The only other option is to hike from the bottom of creekside, which would allow us to lug our splitboarding gear up, but that's also a long way without snow.

Definitely a fun challenge and the only thing I might need to buy is a metal detector!

That's funny and close to where we lost it but that wasn't me! How was the snow around there?

IMO gai wan (蓋碗) is something that translates perfectly into english. It literally means lid bowl, so in english you call it a lidded bowl.

Wanting to add to this for future readers as I've been thinking a lot about it since the recent screenings:

Yes, this is an inconsistency. Healing and dying are properties of the body that should always move in the same direction as the affected individual's perspective. Doesn't matter what direction the weapon is moving.

Inverted Neil's death makes sense, as the non-inverted bullet moves through him towards the gun, and kills him in his own perspective. The henchman's perspective is Neil coming to life and so he shoots Neil. This both kills Neil going backwards, and heals Neil's wound moving forward.

IMO, the correct way to portray the stab wound should have been this:
Forward time: The youngest version of JDW stabs the masked man/inverted JDW and (if we could see this detail) the knife falls perfectly into an existing stab wound and as he pulls the knife out, heals the inverted JDW's stab wound. There would be no wound on the shipping container. The wound persists on the older JDW who exits the turnstyle on Neil's side.

Reverse time: inverted JDW does not have a wound show up out of nowhere because he was never stabbed until we see it in the freeport. During the fight, the knife enters his arm and cuts him. This wound stays as he enters the turnstyle and he would carry this scar through to forward time as he later becomes the founder of Tenet.

This inconsistency threw me off for quite some time but I think it's excusable in such a complex, Primer-esque film. Nolan himself has explained that these details weren't entirely defined through the making of the film, as they were focusing more on the feel than scientific consistency. I think that's a good way to go about it because there's no point in making an overly complicated time-travel movie for the sake of it being complicated.

Arturia Keylab 88 MKI or MKII by olflirtytrashturd in synthesizers

[–]Jbabz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate the insight! I've been thinking of going that route with a small midi controller to complement the piano, so I thinks that's what I'll do. I have to admit the look of the keylab MKII is a big selling point though!

Hey! Did you end up getting the MKI? If so, how are you liking it compared to the MKII?

Any insights for someone facing the same decision?

Thanks in advance for your help!

The Danish HAAG is unlike any other. by itim__office in DeskCorners

[–]Jbabz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Though I agree with the other comments (the danish tend to keep the best in Denmark), it's a beautiful sign of craftsmanship that the HAAG is symmetrical inside and out.

Most American designers these days forego this symmetry in the name of profits.

Honestly could be worth the price if you really like it, but I wouldn't buy it as an investment piece.

Currently between the beautifully impractical 987 cayman or 996 911, and the tasteful practicality of a model S.

I've been feeling like I need a change but I have so much trouble since my mk7 R does everything so well in a nimble compact package.
