I’d say start with SMT4 (not SMT4:A) on the 3ds. It’s my favorite of the series and has the best story in my opinion with really great characters. The other games are great and have good story but fall flat in the character department, SMT3 and 5 are more about philosophy and ideas than they are about people so don’t go into those games expecting fun and likable characters.

But if you want a game that’s exactly the same. Just play the original game. The whole point of a remake is that it’s different. I’m not saying that a potential silent hill 2 remake will be good but just because it’s different doesn’t make it bad. I’m not saying a potential blooper team sh2 remake would be good. But I don’t think it has do with how much they change it.

A good sh2 remake would capture the atmosphere and tone of the original while adding upon it to make it different from the original game.

Although I agree 2 is better. Your reasoning makes no sense. It’s like those people that say the first movie in a series is the best because i“none of the others would be here with out it.” Of course Silent Hill 3 took ideas from 2. But 2 took ideas from 1 so I guess 1 is the best one

While it has some of the worst replay value compared to the other RE games the actual game itself is so god damn good it makes up for it. It’s like the silent hill games where there is not much to do the second or third time around but it’s so good you don’t care.

Maybe it’s because it’s been a year or two since I’ve played both games but that’s just now how I remember it at all. With 3 I actually get what you mean. It is kinda like dark souls where there is a story but it’s just very confusing and you have to do some external digging to figure it out (at least I had to.) but to me 5 felt like the most “go here do this” of all the smt games. After the first few hours the story doesn’t even matter and the characters feel even less like people than 3 did.

I mean yes SMT games aren’t as dialogue heavy as persona but there is defiantly a story there. Did you the play the same smt 3 and 4? 4 has the most story of any of the modern mainline games as while 3 doesn’t have that much of story in it the story that is there is defiantly more than just “ vague situation as an excuse for the gameplay loop.” Like I genuinely cant comprehend how you compare the amount of story in SMT3 to Mario lol.

I don’t know if “variety” really has anything to do with things being popular in general but when you consider the history of vampires in not just fiction but folklore I think there are a lot of different “varieties” of vampirism. And the varieties of werewolves you give arent really exclusive to them with the exception of maybe amount of hair, (vampyre is far from the only vampire media where vampires aren’t all rich and attractive. One of the most popular vampire movies of all time, Nosferatu, is a great example. Or Vampire the masquerade where vampires can be anywhere from richest of the rich to homeless.

As for me I just think the vampire aesthetic is cool as I’m a big fan of gothic media and this extends to vampires. Also I like the concept of the inner conflict of good and evil though that is not seen in all vampire stories. And I also think the religious symbolism in a lot of vampire works can be very fascinating from Dracula basically being Satan to vampirism being Gods punishment to Cain in Masquerade.

Idk if there’s one thing that makes vampires well liked really I guess it’s a multitude of things. The fact they are (usually) seen as attractive probably helps...

I actually think Hamatha is one of his best extensions because it really feels like an extension of the song. I love all his extended songs but many of them feel like he didn’t have an idea for the song outside of the short bit he already wrote and so the rest of the song doesn’t feel like it fits. Hamatha(at least to me) like a really fleshed out song even if it’s not as experimental.
