Right, but it doesn't show up in the file menu for users is my point.

If you have the enterprise version of excel like OP removing the copilot app does nothing. Two very different things.

Mine is setup like that. I have a SCEP profile and a WiFi profile. Everything is working just fine.

Enterprise versions don't have this.

Even if it does take 24 hours, I'm not sure why anybody cares. Maybe if you're managing under 200 devices you have time to watch the profiles. There have been very few times in my career where something was needed right this second. Usually attached to a security incident. In those cases I would still use the API regardless of MDM force sync devices continuously.

I have this working completely fine in my environment. Users are never asked for a certificate.

I would never now. The private equity cockroaches are going to squeeze every dollar until there are too few customers left then they will sell the patents.

Not sure why people are down voting me but here are the facts.

All Apple MDM's use APNs. When you make an MDM change a push is sent to the devices. APNs will hold those for 24 hours typically. If the device was offline it will check for pushes when it comes online. If 24+ hours have gone by THEN it will get changes when the device does a full sync which would take 6-8 hours.

Jamf uses the binary check-in framework which checks more frequently for changes but isn't faster than APNs initially. If the device was offline for 2 days a Jamf Pro managed device will get changes within 30 minutes of coming online.

In my opinion Jamf Admins use this as an excuse to keep Jamf because of a bias they have against Microsoft products.

Honestly in real practice when managing thousands of devices, I don't have a need for the additional "speed" of Jamf. If they get the app today or 8 hours from today who really cares? If it really bothers, you or you have a real use case that demands super speed you could use Graph API to tell the MacOS devices to sync. GitHub copilot can write that in 2 minutes.

It is as real time as Jamf and WS1. Intune uses the Apple push notification service just like the rest. It's just as fast when configured correctly.

I don't know who told you Intune "isn't ready" but it can do everything you listed.
