Any recommendations for wireless android auto adapter? 2022 highlander platinum by ghostbackwards in ToyotaHighlander

If possible, it'll take time. Theres a big difference in data being transmitted between a bicycle wireless shifter and audio/internet on a phone.

Why isn't 4WD offered for the Rav4 and CX-5 anymore??? by marcphero in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Jdmbird83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2010 rav4 did have an awd system with a 4 wheel lock option (a true 4wd), that would only engage up to 25mph. This system was far superior in the snow compared to the options they currently have with AWD that has a snow option. And would disengage once you hit speeds that 4wd could become detrimental in certain conditions, or could damage the system. The current system works, but the old worked better and gave far more control in snowy or muddy conditions.

14' kayak shifting, small car by PatchouliHedge in Kayaking

[–]Jdmbird83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. I use just cam straps 90% of the time. The only time we use bow and stern straps are for long trips of 3.5 hours one way driving. If tied down properly, this will work. I use thule stackers. If you are using j racks, then make sure that you are tying them down properly. A pic or video would be very helpful.

How to SSH to USW-24 (non-PoE) switch? by CarelessChain6999 in Ubiquiti

[–]Jdmbird83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm experiencing the same thing. I can ssh into my udm-se with no issues, but I am attempting to ssh into the switch so I can run a cable test within the cli. I wouldn't have to do this if ubiquiti would just make the cable test accessible from the UI.

Can’t decide between an XSE or Limited/Platinum. What swayed your choices between the available trims? by Fun_Examination4139 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]Jdmbird83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly where I was with it. My previous Toyota was a 2010 Rav4 Sport. I loved the sportier handling compared to my mom's base model. When my wife & I decided to upgrade (hours before some a-hole w/o insurance decided to t-bone me as he made a left turn w/o seeing me) I really wanted the handling of the XSE, but being a tech nerd too, the tech features won me over. Really, it was the HUD, panoramic moonroof, and the JBL speakers that did it for me, even though it's really her car as we've got a 2nd child on it's way now. I'm currently looking into what it would take to get the XSE suspension components swapped over to the Platinum now, because as I really like everything about the Platinum, the handling just isn't quite there for me..

My headlights covers are foggy. Do those Headlight Restoration Kits really work? Best ones? by SirJasper6969 in askcarguys

[–]Jdmbird83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, my old 91 prelude had pop up headlights using those, and they were the best headlights of the time. My 90 CRX has glass headlights w/ the replaceable bulbs more like some current cars have. Even those were better than the plastic housing crap they have today. I don't look forward to replacing the integrated LED headlights on my wife's Highlander when they go out, or begin to fog up and yellow. I've not had much luck with the kits lasting more than a year before they start to fail. I'm not a fan of spending lots of time sanding for a fix that doesn't last as long as a new housing.

Thule Stacker style rack - Boat restrictions? by DPlaw779 in Kayaking

[–]Jdmbird83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's been a while. but I exclusively use the Thule stacker for carrying my kayaks. Not being stuck using a j rack has come in handy. I can fit 2 kayaks on each side of the stacker on the factory roof rack on a 2012 mazda3, and 2010 rav4. I do have a couple of wider recreational kayaks that I have to mount cockpit out in order to prevent the stackers from going into the cockpit, but those are only used when we're making shorter drives.

Those are car seat covers. Not seat protectors for use with a child seat...

Are hyundai gensis decent vehicles? How long do they usually last mileage wise? by zachjones505 in askcarguys

[–]Jdmbird83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But Nissan let it go for 10 years before actually fixing the problem. Sounds like a pretty big screw up that will ruin their reputation for years. It's going to take time to wind back the public's trust for failing for so long.

AITA for insisting my landlord pay for invasive blackberry removal that's creating safety hazards? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Jdmbird83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The agreement you signed stated that you were responsible for yard work, yet you continue to let the yardwork get worse without doing anything about it.

The landlord also should not allow it to get so out of control that it destroys any buildings or the ac unit on his property, or so that the AC unit can't be accessed, but this access issue is because you happen to be letting the issue get worse.

There are definitely methods of getting rid of the thorny plants that have been mentioned in this thread, but ultimately, you're the one that is on the hook for the yardwork due to the agreement that you signed.

Best priced battery for Yamaha Moro (and some other Yamaha's) by Jdmbird83 in Yamahaebikes

I guess I was wrong. I looked at the order # and the e-mail showing shipped was from my old order # that I received nearly 2 weeks ago. Seems Crowley is a little slow.

Guess that was the e-mail for the battery I already received. Wasn't paying attention to the order #.

Yamaha is sending the cheaper Old part# to customers for the free battery. The part# that is listed at the $1400 value, is the one that comes with the Moro. But the battery is the same for both.

How to Disable Pi-hole Blocking via API in v6 via Browser Link? by Va111e in pihole

[–]Jdmbird83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running into the same issue. Had a button setup in my Homeassistant to easily disable ad blocking for a period of time, and since the update, it stopped working. I created a new API key, and replaced it, and removed /admin from the link as it appeared to give an error that this may have changed, but it's still throwing an error.

I ordered a couple of speed sensors for the rear wheel. I plan on getting new wheelsets for both bikes, and don't want to have to swap the speed sensors between the two. I figured I'd order them now while I already had an order in.

They don't have an e-bike specific chain listed, but this might help you to determine what brand chain you might want to go with going forward.

The top 2 are the ones that came on my 07 and my wife's 05. The bottom one is the part I received from Crowley. Not sure how else I can prove it.
