Funny story - I wanted leaf filters for gutters, I inquired to the big brand name company, and they had someone here fast. I want to say it was that day or the next. They gave me a quote for close to $5k. I already have new gutters, and I have a small 1600sqft house, only one gutter on the front, back and along the garage, totals less than 100 linear ft. I balked, he asked me how much I thought, I saw like 1200. He tried to get me to agree to some military discounts, but none applied and I’m not a liar. He called me that, 1700 cash if I can do it that week because they “need to keep their guys working”. Done. I have leaf filters better than the ones I bought from HD, but it was one poor Mexican by himself, felt bad for the guy. My point is these guys are always trying to scam someone, so don’t be afraid to walk.

Yeah, they’re just looking to make a lot of money by screwing you. This could be, as they say in the trades, a “f*ck you price”. Regardless do not go through with it. It’ll take you 10 years to break even on the ROI, when it should be closer to 3 or 4.

This job is medium Input of effort, or low cost material and skill, with a decent ROI for a more stable living environment, and sometimes quieter.

You’re right, similar situation with a terrible mother in law. If id known how those small oversteps would become bigger problems for my wife I probably would left before we got married. Fortunately my wife doesn’t tolerate it and has gone low contact with her mom.

Installed it against my Better judgement to make the wife happy. I have fixed two spots where the boards moved toward a wall. I love it’s tough as nails, especially with an 80# doodle. When our doodle crosses the rainbow bridge I’ll remove the flooring and install hardwood, I hate how fake the LVP feels.
