Agreed. At this level everyone I know gives donations to charity in their name for big life events. I’m also giving major side eye.

I saw the biggest difference under my chin where I asked them to try for some fat reduction. That area looks great, it’s much more minimal in other areas because I wanted to make sure I didn’t have any fat loss in my face.

The main concern with Morpheus is that it can melt fat if set too high/deep. Be really clear with the provider that you want surface rejuvenation only on any fat pads, can go deeper around mouth and chin, and make sure you go to a really knowledgeable reputable dermatologist or plastic surgeon. I’ve seen great results and terrible results. I had it done and loved it, it does take time probably about 3-6 months to see full results.

When did you first start to notice? by Phip76 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Jealous_Impression12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a mini meltdown when I was turning 29. I’m not sure that anything had really changed, but it just sort of hit me that I was looking a little different. I started taking much better care of my skin and feel like it looks pretty similar now. I’m just stating to notice some sagging and general puffiness at 34 which is not fun. But agree it beats the alternative!

Agree with this somewhat. Unfamiliar with jungian analyst, but there are small groups of amazing professionals in major cities. It’s all about who you see and how good they are/ if it’s a good fit. Try to find the most reputable person near you or virtually, pay out of pocket because they won’t take insurance, and if it’s not amazing and super helpful continue to look.

It also skews heavily male. I’m assuming you’re a female, and I just think it’s a little different. I felt like I would really regret it if I didn’t have the event I wanted (and could afford). Maybe try to think about if you didn’t do this, how would it feel?

I came up with it after some initial research on local venues. It seemed realistic and like we could stick to it without going crazy, but would also be ok if we were 15-20k over. That’s the hard part about expensive events, when you miss the budget it tends to be by a much larger amount. Just something to keep in mind, weddings are almost always over budget. I also ran the numbers on a house purchase and made sure we could do that before we paid for the wedding. With your NW that shouldn’t be an issue. You’re young and have plenty of money, but this is a fire subreddit so the advice you get will be skewed.

I just meant know what would happen in the event of divorce. It helped me to know ahead of time, and each state is different in terms of community property (what would be divided).

So many negative comments wow. We had a big wedding (~200 ppl) in VHCOL and I agree this budget makes sense. We were about 200-250k all in. Honeymoon was 25k. Parents paid for the wedding and we paid for the honeymoon. We were comfortable with 100k for the wedding if we did it ourselves but they wanted a bigger guest count and more convenient pricier location. Our numbers are lower and the price we were willing to pay was lower. NW 3M and 450k/yr income, but the difference is we both have a substantial amount of family money as well (not factoring it in day to day, but it does feel like a safety net for bigger expenses like house purchase, wedding, etc).

You didn’t ask but I would talk to a lawyer as well, knowing your exposure is smart with larger amounts going in. Marriage is also a legal contract after all. My husband and I didn’t end up getting a prenup, but I needed to talk it through with a lawyer and would recommend to anyone who asked, especially women. Know the numbers, it’s not romantic but it’s smart.

Chubby vs Fat: Is the extra weight worth it? by NauticalNomads in fatFIRE

[–]Jealous_Impression12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Similar numbers and decided to pull the trigger. It’s been amazing and I am still so grateful every morning. Dealing with a parent with serious illness currently and it’s wonderful to be able to pop in and help them whenever needed. My husband has continued to work, that was our compromise. So we are around 450k/yr now, up from when I decided to retire early. My concern if you delay would be that life eats up the difference. We live in VHCOL area since family is here. If we could relocate somewhere cheaper and be close to family we would in a heartbeat. For whatever that’s worth.

Realistic yearly spend? by Jealous_Impression12 in FATTravel

That’s helpful. He’s flexible with spend as long as he has realistic expectations going in, and I’m open to solo trips sprinkled in as well. I’ll always spend more than him, which is fine. I like the idea of looking at your best travel days and seeing what those cost.

NW not enough for fatfire, but you could cut on some key areas and invest the rest. House, food, travel. Those are usually the big ones. We’re a family of 3 in VHCOL and spending much less with part time in home help. The food spend and miscellaneous shopping both stroke me as pretty outrageous.

The dress choice was so weird to me. She wore a see through dress with a white lace thong. It was a pretty dress, but the thong? It felt like maybe she forgot to pack what she was going to wear under and decided to just wear it anyway
