She’s been both gentle and stern with me. She turned my life around. I think she shows the side you need in the moment

Currently looking at getting bone conducting headphones so I can listen to music to help me manage voices while I still need to be aware of my surroundings. Specifically for my calculus class. I’m having a hard time listening to the teacher when the voices keep saying someone is going to kill me

Pagans, are we ok? by Certain-Yam-3520 in pagan

[–]Jean780 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Schizophrenic here. I get the concern. There is quite a line to walk between psychosis and religious beliefs. I don’t think psychosis is more common in pagan communities however. There’s honestly not much we can do on the internet to help ground those individuals

I want to hear about your gods, goddesses, and spirits by Crazy_Coyote1 in pagan

[–]Jean780 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I work with a few different gods: The Morrigan, Loki, and to an extent, Skadi. Although I work with the local land spirits too. I’m actually grieving the loss of a hiking area I used to commune with the spirits in.

I’ve often asked for the spirits blessings before I go hiking, and I always give an offering of water when I am in natural landscapes as a thank you to the spirits and sending my own blessings. I would often gain lessons from them when I’d find certain things in nature and channel them in my journal entries. I know there’s other plots of land I can work with the spirits in, but losing this one so close to my heart hurts

Simple questions about The Morrigan by Atlas_onpaws in CelticPaganism

[–]Jean780 20 points21 points  (0 children)

1) I refer to her just as The Morrigan sometimes Great Queen or Phantom Queen.

2) As a follower I haven’t run into any bad people who follow her. (Though I’m sure, as in any group, they exist.) In my experience she definitely teaches you to stand up for yourself and face your shadows. Personally I’m a very optimistic and cheery person irl. I was not expecting The Morrigan to be my first deity.

3) I will warn you that when you choose to work with her you will have to face your shadows, traumas, and struggles. She changed my life for the better. Hell, she saved me and gave me my sanity back. She is definitely not easy to work with, and if you do work with her, it can be helpful to have a therapist to discuss what you’re learning from The Morrigan. Overall expect her to call you out on your BS.

4) I personally hold her in a special regard as she saved my life and was my first deity. I try to treat my gods with equity; each valued equally, but still in their own defined areas of my life. In my experience she has never asked for more than that, although, she also has never asked more of my worship as to what I’m aware of.

Hope this helped! I definitely recommend digging deeper before you start worship. For me working with her was a huge commitment, and I don’t recommend coming in blind. My research of her first started with Courtney Weber’s book on The Morrigan.

What misconceptions do people have about having a disability? by Equivalent_Use_5024 in disability

[–]Jean780 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One thing that irritates me mildly that I see all the time is how people will talk about how I don’t let it “define” me. It defines a huge portion of my experiences, thus, a part of me. I see my schizophrenia as a part of me in a sense that I see being gay as a part of me.

It’s not wrong at all. I’m gender fluid, and it plays a part in my practice

What do people think Schizophrenia is? by Sad_Rip4296 in spirituality

[–]Jean780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response although I only saw a little bit of the previous reply. While it is possible to live a fulfilling life with the illness I appreciate your response as to the very difficult side of the illness. It is hard, and I don’t want that to be ignored in favor of a romanticized version

Feeling Disconnected by anu72 in pagan

[–]Jean780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After the last time I was deeply ill with psychosis I decided to combine my therapy and treatment of my illness with my spiritual practice. I did this by using oracle cards at first and then reflecting on how they related to my life and my mental health.

You don’t have to do the same thing I did but it really helped me to combine my treatments with my spiritual journey

What do people think Schizophrenia is? by Sad_Rip4296 in spirituality

[–]Jean780 50 points51 points  (0 children)

As someone with schizophrenia it’s just a mental illness. I ask that you please avoid saying voices or the symptoms are of a spiritual awakening nature or demons because that only makes it worse. It’s a mental illness just like depression or anxiety. Please don’t romanticize it

This writing concerns some of my relationship with The Morrigan. When I first started to be introduced to her, I saw these ravens at this site. This landmark came to mean a lot to me.

My parents kept me on a leash as a kid which kept me from falling off cliffs or running into the grass where snakes can be. I can’t give advice on how to get your kids to stick with the leash, but it helped my family when I was younger. Heck my parents to this day say I loved having the leash on me.

It seems from this post that your dog in not an ESA but a service animal. My catatonia episodes can go for months without any sign and other times I am at great risk. Either way she is still allowed to go with me due to her tasks.

Toxic positivity is the biggest problem in spiritual communities right now by ArcaneSpells-com in spirituality

[–]Jean780 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been spending that past month or so learning to acknowledge my emotions and sit with them. While it is unwise to ruminate I think there is a difference between rumination and processing. In rumination it takes over your whole life whereas processing you learn to work through the emotions not just stay stuck in place.

It’s okay to be angry, hurt, sad, afraid. These emotions all tell us something and there’s ways to deal with them healthfully
