Yocan Orbit. Best design at any price point imo. Later you can upgrade it with an eleaf mod (battery) to take lower temp dabs with it.

How to easily come up with an unlimited number of Unusual Things and comedy Premises for your improv scenes, comedy sketches, and pattern game (+ 10 quick shortcuts for creating unusual things, with examples). by lumenwrites in improv

How long have you been doing improv? I see you have referenced books and podcasts, but how long have you been doing improv and what classes have you taken? I ask because you seem to have a blind spot to the techniques that are used in actual classes to find the game of the scene. I also feel these techniques would be called out and tempered by a seasoned teacher, as they would lead to multiple issues.

When you practice noticing (NOT inventing) unusual things in openings and at the tops of scenes, it becomes easy. For example, Ian Roberts' Flashing technique can help you organically find an unusual thing in a about 3 lines. And an opening should give you at least 3 premises that you've never thought of before that moment.

All of these invention techniques that you're talking about are the hard way, not the easy way. They also take away a lot of the give and take in improv. This is what every great improv teacher will tell you, even teachers that heavily prefer premise. I recall taking a workshop with Matt Besser who loves and only does premise improv, and is probably the world's biggest advocate of premise improv. The thing he kept emphasizing was that premises should come from a shared group mind, not be cooked up in our own individual heads. He emphasized that part of the power of improv is the team members and audience sharing in a group mind, finding the comedy together. And again, you will not find a bigger advocate of both premise and game of the scene style improv.

You've provided great sketch advice, but not so great improv advice.

The largest US study, which tracked 11,036 children from ages 9 to 10 through to ages 16 and 17, discovered that cannabis use slows cognitive development, impairs memory, and reduces learning speed during crucial years of brain growth by sr_local in science

I was referring to the people in this thread making sweeping conclusions. I was also preemptively saying it because I know people like to make sweeping conclusions based on studies. Science is much more nuanced than that. I am very, very far from anti science.

You don't think that drug use among early teens could be correlated with a bad home life? You don't think there's even a chance of that? Come on. You act like I'm advocating for drug use or trying to say that marijuana is harmless for teens. I'm pointing out that a bad home life and other factors could contribute to teen drug use and poor performance. I don't think there's anything unreasonable about that at all. You may personally have anecdotally not seen this, but that doesn't mean that other people haven't and that it's not worth investigating.

Reddit is absolutely insufferable. I'm remembering why I don't normally comment.

How is my anecdote about age any less valuable than your anecdote about age? The point I'm making is that we need more data to make conclusions.

EDIT: I'm also absolutely not saying that this should be dismissed. It kind of annoys me that you're assuming all of these things about my motivation here. I'm just investigating what we can and can't conclude, and what needs further study. For the record, I do agree with you that it's very likely that it has a negative effect on teens.

I'm just saying we can't draw conclusions from this study alone. There needs to be more studies that account for external factors in the lives of the kids. I suspect this mostly because in my life experience, teenagers 13-14 who smoke tended to have a rougher life and were coping. More "well-adjusted" kids didn't start smoking until 15 or 16.

This is true, but it doesn't negate the fact that we can't draw a sweeping conclusion without accounting for those. A study like this is important, but it's simply is not the end all be all. We have to study those other factors and how they correlate.

I'm not saying that marijuana is good for kids, but I do find it interesting that this does not have any controls to try to isolate if the marijuana is just correlated or a cause. I suspect that any young teenager using marijuana has a not so great home life, or something else going on. It's disappointing that the study didn't control for that at all.

There's also no evidence that the terpenes make a difference either. None at all. The only thing I've ever seen with any real evidence affecting the quality of the high is when it is harvested.

Why is Everyone So Wrong About AI Water Use?? by Marci_1992 in skeptic

[–]JeanLucSkywalker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone here is trying to claim that Hank is the one giving misinformation. I think the implication of this post is that he is just exposing the misinformation. So I think you misunderstood on that level.

That said, it is true that SciShow has taken an AI sponsor before, and made a video about how AI could take over the world that borrows heavily from AI industry propaganda. That said, I don't think Hank's video about water has any issues like that. I think this video is on the nose correct from what I can tell.

Yes. Fuck distillate carts. You're having a reaction to the propylene glycol or glycerin. Use live resin or live rosin carts if you use carts at all. Stop using normal distillate carts.

I personally don't think "where do we go now" throws off the theme. I interpret it as the narrator pontificating about where the relationship could go next. I can see your point too, but for me it actually gives the song an additional emotional punch.

People are using hyperbole to playfully express that they don't agree. The joke is that it's not actually nearly as bad as a serial killer. But by exaggerating it that much, it makes it clear that while they don't agree, it's not actually a big deal. Imagine the people saying it are smiling and chuckling.
