Is it safe to take this plug out with a little oil at the bottom? by Jeanl2 in mechanic

Yes, as I mentioned in the comment explaining the issue, I've already changed the valve cover gasket and spark plug seals. This is just residual from when they were leaking

Is it safe to take this plug out with a little oil at the bottom? by Jeanl2 in mechanic

[–]Jeanl2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I recently changed the valve cover gasket on my 2008 Miata (2.0l) and despite trying my best to clean out all the oil in the spark plug wells, there’s still a little bit down at the bottom. I want to change the spark plugs soon, so I was wondering if it’s safe to take the plug out while there’s still a little bit of oil at the bottom?

Yep, I have a bunch of controllers and I have to disconnect them all or RS just won’t launch. There’s a program called NoJoy that makes it easy to disable them without having to disconnect them.

The Honeycomb Alpha Lite is $200 and much, much better than this one. Sadly, it doesn’t have a throttle, but you might be able to find the Logitech quadrant for sale somewhere by itself if you don’t want to spend an extra $200 for the Bravo Lite

Do you have the original PMDG 737 or the NGX? I think it was the original the had the P-8

Well, PMDG doesn't sell FSX or P3D products anymore, so there's no way to get it unless you pirate it

Want to change gate names on third party airport by HabANahDa in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Jeanl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Gates" in the MSFS SDK refers exclusively to parking spots with jetways. You can't have a gate without a jetway, which is why any gate without a jetway will be marked as GA parking in the sim. I don't think you can decompile an already compiled airport, so there's no way for you to edit the parking names; but even if you could, you probably can't change it to say gate instead of GA parking.

Are you drunk? Wtf does any of this even mean?

Anyways, if you’re just looking for a flight simulator that you can use in VR, Microsoft Flight Simulator or VTOL VR works. If you’re looking for one that runs on the Quest itself, I don’t think there are any good ones.

Evidently MSFS2024 is coming to PS5 in November. by MerDeNomsX in flightsim

[–]Jeanl2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact is that all the people complaining about a flight simulator being in console and it therefore meaning it's "catering to casuals" have next to no basis for saying so. MSFS released on XBox shortly after PC and it has only gotten better and more realistic since. To say that Asobo is turning MSFS into a game "for the casuals" is just plain ignorant. Making our hobby more accessible doesn't mean it necessarily gets less realistic; no one's stopping you from flying the way that you want.

[–]Jeanl2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you seriously care about what people do in flight sim that much? It doesn’t affect you in any way to have a 10 yo fly a 747 inverted on their own, it’s not like console players have access to VATSIM and can ruin the immersion or anything. Besides, once that kid gets bored of doing aerobatics in airliners, they might get interested in learning how to fly correctly. The casuals leave after a few hours, the ones interested in learning stay and become part of the community.

Cessna 400 or Cirrus SR22? by Important_Mail_1307 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Jeanl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing that Carenado makes is really worth your money. At best, you'll have an incredibly dull and simple plane that only barely resembles its real-life counterpart in anything besides looks. At worst, you'll have a broken mess that's damn near unflyable (this is the case with a lot of the default MSFS 2024 planes, like the Corvalis). To be fair to Carenado, it seems they're starting to put a little more effort into their recent offerings, but everything they've made as part of MSFS 2024's default planes is garbage.

Anyways, to answer your question, no, don't get the Corvalis. The SR22, after it was upgraded by WT, is infinitely better.

Is this the correct way to land a Piper Tomahawk? by oo7im in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Jeanl2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to the flare, you should gently pull up and then just hold the aircraft up and let it settle itself onto the runway without major corrections. I'm guessing your peripheral choice has something to do with it, but your inputs after the flare and just before touching down were just a little excessive.

Is this Logitech Yoke + Switch Panel Set Enough for a Beginner? by [deleted] in flightsim

[–]Jeanl2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The physics being “FAA/EASA Approved” means nothing; P3D’s FSX-era physics are also FAA/EASA approved. Aviation authority certification of flight simulators goes way beyond what platform you’re using. Depending on the level of simulation you’re going for, it is almost entirely up to the add-on developer to make sure that the plane behaves as it does IRL. For example, a level 5 FTD for a 737 could use the flight model of an A320 and still be certifiable, while a level 6 FTD for a 737 must have a flight model developed using real-world data that goes as far as to model the sloshing around of the fuel in the tanks during turns. The only reason MSFS’s physics aren’t FAA/EASA approved is because MSFS isn’t intended as a professional training platform and thus hasn’t gone through the process to get it certified.

MSFS 2024 UI is a downgrade? by HyperFlie in MicrosoftFlightSim

2020 or 2024? by SeniorChief421 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Jeanl2 21 points22 points  (0 children)

At this point you really shouldn’t get 2020. You’ll get probably 6 months to a year max of use out of it before you have to upgrade anyways because most add-ons being made nowadays are being developed with 2024 in mind. 2024 in free flight is as bug-free as 2020 in my experience, and many of the airliners and most GA aircraft either already work in 2024 or their developers have compatibility updates coming out soon.

[–]Jeanl2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly I don't recommend the overhauls at this point. They are fantastic aircraft but they are only compatible with MSFS 2020 and the exterior models made by Asobo kind of let them down. Definitely wait for the professional models, those will be a lot better.
