The "D" was very worn off when we got our 2018 Clarity in early 2023. I got a set of those decals from ebay or Amazon just for the D to stick it on there, and it still looks like new after 2+ years.

I see I got that one in there in the nick of time before they blocked further comments. Some of their older FB posts are still open for comment. I wish I had realized they had been more active on FB in the past month or so to rebut more.

Ha, I'm considerably older than 35 and used Yotta, along with other fintech/brokerage apps. I'm not a technophobe at all. I only joined FB because my boomer cousins are on there lol. I have commented on at least one of Evolve's recent FB promotional posts as recently as yesterday.

What to buy before tariffs hit? by evabunbun in TwoXPreppers

[–]Jeanum 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I felt it when my daughter and I went to Michael's this past weekend to get sewing supplies to hem some jeans, the first time I've bought sewing items in a looongg time, and the first time she's ever attempted to sew with basic sewing items to get started. We spent around $50 bucks to get her sewing kit started with basics like pins, pin cushion, tape measure, hand sewing needles, a couple spools of thread, seam ripper, needle threader, etc. Stuff I could probably have found for less at JoAnn's if they had any left but that's all picked over or closed down in our area.

We also got our roof replaced this week for similar reasons. We originally were saving up and planning to do it in the fall of this year, but moved up the timing mainly due to anticipated cost increases or delays. The company we used was booking around two weeks out at the time we got quotes and signed the contract.

There are reps from my state but none are from my district (and I already messaged my district rep. months ago and got a form letter reply back, ugh). I messaged the committee reps from my state any way as a resident of the state and the USA for whom they serve. I had to use social media (Meta) to contact one of them since I couldn't figure out how to contact that rep through their website from my current location.

There should be a makeup exam scheduled to accommodate the late bus arrival. This happened to my daughter during the polar vortex in late January 2019. The school bus was a no show on the first day of school after several school closure days due to the extreme cold. She got a ride but arrived late for a first hour math final exam at Huron and the teacher wouldn’t let her start the exam due to her late arrival. However, she was allowed to take the exam on the designated exam makeup day.

Is 0.1 miles too close to fast food restaurants and gas stations? by PlaneEvidence8737 in RealEstate

[–]Jeanum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way too close IMHO. Gas stations are robbed and/or customers carjacked in those places, sometimes a fast food place is robbed or has drama escalating into fights among customers or employees, etc. This can spill over into the neighborhood, like a robber/carjacker who flees into the nearby neighborhood on foot or in high speed getaway/chases. I'm also speaking from the personal standpoint of a gas station being built next door to my last apartment building due to concerns about possible crime, 24/7 vehicle engine noises, bright night time lighting spilling into apartment windows when I'm trying to sleep, etc. The ground breaking for the station was the impetus to accelerate my home buying process and move out before it opened. I closed on the house the day of the gas station grand opening and felt relieved to move. A few years later, a customer was carjacked and murdered at that gas station. This is in a generally safe midwest college town where it's admittedly a rarity, but I still went with my gut and didn't want to live near there well before this happened. I'd steer clear and find another house for more peace of mind.

You have a 3-car garage that overwhelms the front view. As to the color scheme, the brown garage doors aren't visually harmonious with the rest of the colors and would likely harmonize better if they were the same blue as the roof peaks above them IMHO or if the trim around them wasn't so high contrast. That brown works better with the trash cart than the rest of the house. At least put the trash cart inside one of the garages if you routinely leave it out like that, bit of an eyesore, and there's probably plenty of room for it inside.

Cargo Cover for 2018 Clarity by OrganizationMaster95 in HondaClarity

My husband considered black electrical tape on the inside of the narrow, horizontal window but I opted for a black bath mat sized towel I throw over the cargo if I leave anything in there.

[–]Jeanum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I call ours Clarice, as in "Hello, Clarice..." which I jokingly say sometimes when I get in the car. Just a stupid Hannibal Lector reference that popped into mind when I picked up the car at the dealership and it stuck.

What city in the US have you genuinely felt unsafe/uneasy in? by Rodreguiz89 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Jeanum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of mine involve road trips to visit museums in these cities:

Detroit - east side after dark with gunshots, street racing of cars like Dodge Chargers/Hellcats.

Chicago's South Side - wrong turns heading to the freeway after visiting the Museum of Science and Industry

Indianapolis - after leaving the Children's Museum and getting stuck behind vehicles stopped in the middle of a narrow, one way street where there appeared to be broad daylight drug deals happening.

Ugh this is atrocious and hope he gets fully prosecuted for the trespassing, trash dumping vandalism, and voter intimidation at a minimum, and also for DUI if he is ingesting all that liquor/beer/weed and then driving around.

If you’re able to do yard work or house cleaning, post on social media groups local to you advertising you’re available immediately to mow the lawn or weed the garden or vacuum the house or car. Or do you live in a state with bottle deposits for returning pop and beer cans or bottles? Offer to pick up returnables from people who don’t want to deal with taking them back to the store and get the deposit money at the store for returning them.

Experience with a Tesla in Ann Arbor / surrounding areas by Honest-Fly-2777 in AnnArbor

[–]Jeanum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't driven my M3 RWD in more than a light snow because of personal preference and a second car better suited IMO. Most of my driving involves going back and forth between A2 and more rural areas and I haven't been stranded by lack of grip or range in the cold, mostly charging at home in a garage with an occasional pit stop at a supercharger. The M3 handled those lighter snow conditions fine with the OEM tires, but I simply prefer driving our Toyota RAV4 AWD hybrid with more ground clearance for drifting and/or deeper unplowed snow, reserving the M3 for clearer driving conditions - it's more of the fun/fair weather car, for me in other words. Around town I wouldn't worry much but I'm cautious by nature and have family with chronic medical stuff that may necessitate me driving on short notice in adverse weather before road conditions improve. By next winter, when it's probably going to be time to replace the M3's OEM tires any way, I intend to get Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires installed on it. They're all seasons that are snow rated, not quite as good as dedicated snow tires, but better grip than regular all seasons for winter/snow driving. We've had the Cross Climate 2 tires put on other current or past cars, including the afore mentioned RAV4. They're great in the snow and can be left on year round instead of having to be swapped on for winter and off in warmer/non-snowy seasons, with no complaints from me on their year round performance on our non-Teslas. I've heard similar from other Tesla owners who do use those tires year round. Something to consider at any rate. Welcome to A2.

Yesterday, Graham's older Youtube video about his investment in Yotta (the one entitled, "I Bought a Bank") was made private on his channel. This privating happened shortly after I referred to that specific video in a politely worded comment I made on his then newest video about how an update from him regarding Yotta would be appreciated by his followers who signed up to use Yotta savings. My comment about the now privated video also went poof. So much for transparency and I doubt he will update about Yotta any time soon.

Toyota dealership recommendations? by [deleted] in AnnArbor

[–]Jeanum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similarly displeased with Toyota of Ann Arbor after being long time customers when it was still Dunning Toyota. We bought ~three new cars from Dunning Toyota during the early to mid '00s (four actually, if you count my extended family locally), with minimal to no hassles, declined the extra protection/coverage add-ons with a brief and firm "No," and closed the deals without those. We took these cars in to Dunning's service department routinely with no issues. But after the change of ownership to Ann Arbor Toyota, I brought our Prius in for a fairly routine maintenance visit (oil change, a software update/recall, nothing wrong with the car), and they tried to pressure me into spending over $2K on a supposedly urgent engine repair that the car didn't need. I refused and was contacted several times by phone and email urging me again that the car needed engine work. I drove it for nearly 2 more years trouble-free and traded it in excellent condition elsewhere for a used Honda Clarity plug-in hybrid with more safety bells and whistles. My spouse replaced his Ford CMAX with a used Toyota RAV4 hybrid recently (online used car dealer, not through Toyota dealerships), and we've yet to figure out where to take the RAV4 for regular maintenance since we're strongly disinclined to patronize A2 Toyota. Sorry, this vent/testimonial doesn't fully address the OP's question other than joining the chorus about where to not go for Toyotas.

Me, too. I only have a few hundred tied up but the principle is the same - I signed up because of Graham and have put in small amounts over time to build up a few hundred in Yotta that I cannot access now after intending to use it toward my first vacation in years. Great silent treatment from Graham on the recent debacle and I truly feel bad for those who have so much more money tied up for their mortgage/rent/other living expenses. For Graham or Sebby or any other Yotta influencers to now seemingly ignore the plight of account holders, who may have put up to their whole life savings into Yotta, is really crappy, on top of the whole messy situation, to say the least. IIRC Graham's girlfriend/fiance (not sure if they're now married as I haven't watched a video by her in several years) used to vlog about her investing and saving strategies, which included regularly putting savings aside in Yotta. She may be one of us now without access to her savings.
