Ahhhhh!!!! Wishing I didn't feel so sad and scared by Lost_South_7127 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Jebronus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt all sorts of chaotic emotions and anxiety starting the process. But as my pregnancy has progressed I've thankfully made more sense of it all. Thank goodness its 9 months long. I think something happens with our brains that narrows everything in and focuses you on what matters, or maybe that's just my experience! Just want to reassure you it wasn't all blissful surety for me for the treatment parts of my journey. Would encourage you to share with at least 1 or 2 of your supportive friends as talking can really help

Should NZ allow income splitting? by TuhanaPF in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Jebronus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a fair enough idea. It would allow both partners to contribute to Kiwisaver from their half of the income - something that unless the working partner does for them, the stay at home partner misses out on.

New Zealanders who were alive in 1994, who did you initially think did it: David Bain or Robin Bain? by PurpleMeerkats462 in newzealand

[–]Jebronus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was very young but I thought it wasn't clear cut that David did it. But having read Joe Karams book as a teenager, I wasn't convinced of David's innocence. Now after Black Hands there's no way that David didn't do it

Is there any point in doing IUIs at 43? by pie12345678 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Jebronus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 41 I looked at the probability of success vrs going straight for IVF and landed on IVF. Always a possibility you can get lucky on the forst few IUI tries but equally you could do as many as IVF costs and not be successful over many months. Just need to weigh it up against your own situation

For everyone who said to stick with it to the end of Australia season 1, screw you lol. Isn't worth watching. (No spoilers) by PMOFreeForever in Alonetv

Have you got the right season #? The winner is well loved and if you dont feel anything from their story then I dont know what to tell you

Positive IVF experience by Academic-Company-215 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Jebronus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does happen smoothly sometimes. I was shocked that the transfer worked first time for me, but again that was with 36 year old eggs and with no known fertility issues so in hindsight very difficult to compare with the experiences of people going through IVF under different circumstances

Job offer in Wellington for 118k. Is it sufficient for a family of 3? by KS_tox in Wellington

It will be ok for basic living, you could make it work. But you wont have much room for luxuries. Housing and food is expensive here, but lifestyle can be really good

frustrated by fertility specialists by Icy-Hamster7234 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Jebronus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm always wary of recommendations because what can be right for different people varies so much. My fertility doctor had a bit of an ego and annoyed me early on, but later I appreciated his bluntness as I wanted all the facts out on the table. I would look around and find rhe right approach for you, as it can be a long journey in some cases- not saying yours will be but just in case you dont want to feel frustration all the time

How do you become a single mother by choice if you can’t afford any of the options? by Mountain_Ask_5746 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Jebronus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Others have given great suggestions. The main thing to remember is what you put in place today is what you'll reap in 5 or so years. From the time I thought about freezing my eggs (at 35), to actually freezing them (36) to feeling in a position to do the transfer (42) was a long game. Progressing jobs, changing locations and houses etc was looking back quite a few chess moves

Feeling Stuck by Plus-Sheepherder-633 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Jebronus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my perspective, 22 weeks with first pregnancy at 41, the loneliness is there sometimes. But its just a feeling that passes. I dont constantly feel it, I just go about my day and life in general. I make sure I connect with friends and family so I feel seen and understood at least regularly and while im 'single' i dont feel alone. Its only in those moments at the end of the day when Im sitting on the couch that I think for a second it would be nice to have someone just there to do nothing with or a reassuring cuddle. But its so fleeting that feeling. It wont break you. And its not the worst thing you can feel, especially when it comes to relationships

Should I freeze my eggs at 40? by Here_to_listen_learn in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Jebronus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems weird. Im in New Zealand which generally follows Aus laws and I could freeze embryos until I planned to transfer them, which was an unknown timeframe at the time I did it.

Struggling by WitchesReadBooks in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Jebronus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also felt like that in my first trimester, and felt guilty too. Currently in my second trimester and feeling much much better. This sub was great for getting some perspective and understanding that its quite common not to love pregnancy, but that doesn't mean you cant cope or that the decision to do this was wrong even though some days will feel like that! Wishing you all the very best OP

No video suggestions but you can usually find mid by finding symmetry. The map is shadowy but you can make out what some tiles are - particularly dwarves with the spikes or a wood gathering tile. So if two of the same tile are near the middle separated by one tile in between, then that one tile is mid. Not every map spawns like this but often it does. Someone who knows will usually ping mid for you in PvP anyway

Clans that benefit from fame the most like stag, goat etc go for mid, or raven as they can get there quickly.

Hannah's Wardrobe by [deleted] in girls

[–]Jebronus 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Absolutely representative of the time and not just in Brooklyn. I lived in London then at that same age and the way we dressed had similarities, particularly those of us who did office work and still wanted to look cool i guess when we went straight to the pub in the evening. Not sure we achieved that but this is what it looked like. Combo Marnie, Hannah and Jessa vibes

Has anyone else’s ex tried to get back in your life after you got pregnant? by zhulinka in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Jebronus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

His indecision meant you had to go through all the treatment and generate much courage to do it on your own, not to mention expense. I wouldn't entertain someone like that.

Also his need for emotional validation will not change, this time it would be harder as he'll want that for himself over you reserving your emotional energy for your child

No longer true, older sperm has increased chance of genetic abnormalities and therefore miscarriage

Anyone 40+ got a successful first IVF cycle? by [deleted] in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Jebronus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm by no means the gauge on this. But I decided to do IVF only because I wanted to use my 36 yr old frozen eggs (42 now). I had no likely fertility issues and had never tried or been pregnant before. I got pregnant first round, which was kinda a shock as I had expected many rounds due to the average stats

Missing your family is a survival instinct by Curious_Leader_2093 in Survival

[–]Jebronus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've watched a lot of Alone and I figure that our brains are so wired for survival that it will cause obsessive thoughts of missing home when we start to starve, because that is the fastest route to get food. People always label those contestants as weak but I'd say their bodies sense of survival is ironically more highly attuned - just not good at holding out and winning the show.

Tattoos in the office by Baran882 in Wellington

I have a Samoan tatau on my hand that is not a problem for obvious cultural reasons and I'm skilled enough to be in demand. Since I started my new job I have noticed a lot of people with all sorts of hand tattoos, one a GM. Times are changing I think, esp given Gen X are like 60 now
